What you see is what you get with Iron Force. Even the controls, which has a virtual joystick for movement and a big red button on the right to fire, are simple and self explanatory. This is a title that doesn't dance around and impress you with cute characters or nifty game play.

Iron Force is a great game, mostly due to its unique idea and different take on gameplay. It’s worth playing, especially for tank fans.

By the way, 3D graphics are acceptable. Sound can be improved, same goes for UI out of combat. Although the game is focused on online battles, bots give quite a challenge. However, the only way to make the most of this game is lure three friends and form a squad. The best of it is that's free. Yes, of course there's an in-app shop, but you can eternally play for free and get upgrades more slowly.

That's not to say there isn't a lot to like about Iron Force. Traditional shooter fans will likely find the pace of gameplay a little too slow for their liking at first, but once you settle into the rhythm of things you'll understand that this is a very enjoyable game of cautious cat-and-mouse. It's just a shame those in-app purchases put such a dent in the game's otherwise very solid armor.

Iron Force is a game that is mired with gameplay issues, but these issues are trumped by an offensive in-app purchase system. Expecting gamers to pay $12 for two hours of bland gameplay and then $50 for a tank is not going to win many arguments in support of in-app purchase in iOS games.

Iron Force is definitely a fun game so long as players understand it's a bit more methodical and strategic than the average shooter. The problem is that sometimes they can be vastly outgunned to the point of absurdity. With enough patience it's still possible to have a reasonably good time with it, though.
