  • Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition lives up to its moniker, and makes a compelling argument for both fans and newcomers of the game to pick it up. It's a welcome addition to the Switch's library, though anyone that already had their fill elsewhere shouldn't feel the need to upgrade.

  • If you're not into Zelda or think you'd find Mosou-style gameplay boring, just skip it. The game is highly repetitive and you simply won't be satisfied with your purchase if you're not into this style of action combat. If you're still curious, I suggest looking up a gameplay video or two and making an informed decision.

  • Hyrule Warriors marries the best aspects of the musuo genre with a love for Zelda and visual and performance improvements for a solid, if simple, romp through Hyrule.

  • If you're a fan of the Warriors format and Zelda games then Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition is an essential purchase. Those who have already played its predecessors to exhaustion, however, may find that it considerably less so. Sure, it has got nicer visuals and a couple of extra costumes, but that's about it. Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition is really meant for those who, like me, missed out on the previous versions. And for us, it's a fantastic package.

  • As for the people out there like me who’ve passed on this franchise before, I had enough fun with Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition that I can recommend it as a fun guilty pleasure if you’ve got some extra coin but it’s not a must play experience. Just like the Fast and the Furious, there are people out there that enjoy fast-paced outlandish action, and others like me who enjoyed the one I saw but aren’t interested in seeing any more.

  • This new version of Hyrule Warriors doesn’t bring many new features to the table, but if you’re looking for the best portable version of this amazing game (even if it runs quite poorly when not docked) and the version with the largest amount of content, don’t even think twice. This is the best Warriors-styled game I have ever played, and a complete must if you’re a Zelda fan. This is fanservice done right, a true love letter to the Zelda franchise.

  • Can it get repetitive? Sure, but that’s the nature of Action RPGs like this – Warriors games are essentially 3rd-Person Diablos without the loot hunt. Playing coop is a joy, the Adventure Mode is an awesome addition, and raising your own fairy is surprisingly cute and meaningful. With all the content on display, it’s worth the full price of entry.

  • Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition is just that, the very best edition of the title that has been released. It offers the most content, and a wonderful quality of life changes that make it easily accessible for new or returning players.

  • Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition is a great port of the original game. It's mindless fun action that offers a lot of content and combines the Zelda and Dynasty Warriors franchises into a title that complements both franchises. Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition may not have the depth of other Zelda games but it provides a fun adventure where you can slash away.

  • Those returning to the fray will likely be a little disappointed as there just isn't enough new content to rouse fresh excitement. For newcomers, though, Hyrule warriors is a delightful, bizarre outing that opens up the Zelda series, taking us places we've been before, just with thousands of monsters and awesome, screen-clearing magical attacks.
