- Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Blackheart is a rather challenging game. The story is run of the mill, but the game has fun little moments that make it truly feel like a return to the Neptunia universe and it translates the RPG genre to turn-based tactics well. If you like TBT’s and love the Neptunia franchise then this is a must play game.
Alexandria Taberski · Jun 23, 2016 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Hyperdimension Neptunia fans may well enjoy this one, but I can't count myself among them. The series has an alluring premise, but it just doesn't push the idea far enough for me. The cloying characters and banal story are just so incredibly vapid, and the respectable strategic gameplay just isn't enough to compensate for the myriad of drawbacks and stumbling blocks. Sorry Noire, but it's time we go our separate ways.
Kyle MacGregor · Apr 28, 2015 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - For a first foray into the SPRG genre, Hyperdevotion Noire does surprisingly well. It offers tons of strategic gameplay concepts packed into an easy-to-learn interface. Along the way players are given a lot of freedom to how they choose to play which is definitely positive. Where it flounders is simply with the fact that it doesn’t respect the player’s time.
Marcus Estrada · Mar 09, 2015 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - In the end, what’s left to say is that Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart is a well-rounded game that is appealing to both longtime fans of the series and newcomers. It doesn’t get too complex to jump into as a newcomer, though it can get deep with the lily system and different characters skills. As an original game developed for the Vita and/or a spin-off of the Neptunia series, it’s a great title.
Shizuka · Mar 09, 2015 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - The humor is typical Neptunia, which means that it’s a bit hit or miss, but if you get the references, there are a few good chuckles to be had. At the end of the day, I can say with confidence that Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart is easily the best game in the series, and certainly worth the time of any JRPG fan.
Jae Lee · Mar 04, 2015 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - To me, Hyperdevotion Noire represents the pinnacle of the series. You have a script that's never been as entertaining and enjoyable until now; a very nice breadth of characters with strong voice acting to help push them forward; appealing visuals that work well within the confines of a handheld; and an all-around highlight in the Playstation Vita’s library, especially when you consider how few strategy RPGs there are for the platform.
Zack Reese · Feb 28, 2015 Reviewed on PC, VitaRead full review - Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart disappoints on nearly all accounts. As a fan of anime and obscure game experiences, Noire doesn’t strike me as a consistent effort to provide gamers with something memorable or even novel. ...The game’s pace is slow throughout; from combat that you trudge through to dialogue and character development that seems to do nothing but spin its wheels in the mud endlessly. Hyperdevotion Noire is at its best, forgettable, and at its worst, un-engaging.
Ryan Green · Feb 24, 2015 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - The plot is a mess and the gameplay is uninspired and boring. While there are reasons to replay this game, the slow and poorly written plot will likely see to it that you don’t. If you are in the mood for a good tactical RPG check out Fire Emblem or Advance Wars. If you are looking for a game in the HyperDimension series check out Superdimension Neptune VS Sega Hard Girls.
Korey Pyne · Dec 18, 2016 Reviewed on PC - Hyperdevotion Noire is a great little side-game that was clearly put together with some skill, and the solid character writing more than holds it together. Those looking for a great strategy RPG may want to look elsewhere, but Neptune fans fond of the previous entries will be more than pleased to find Goddess Black Heart is a very well made game.
Ian Soltes · Mar 25, 2016 Reviewed on PCRead full review - The general aesthetic of the game holds itself together, but pervasive gameplay challenges and mostly superfluous mini-games and add-ons detract from the overall quality of the game, leaving the player with what feels like an unfinished project.
