  • While single-player is definitely fun, multiplayer is the game’s greatest strength. An online match basically takes everything from Treasure mode and throws human opponents into the mix. This creates an interesting scenario where you can either fly off and collect gold by yourself hoping that no one wants to mess with you or follow other players and steal from them. All’s fair. This is a game that benefits from simple design. Supported by well-executed mechanics and a very cheap price tag, Hoard is the perfect game for anyone seeking a quick fix.

  • The concept is fairly original, intuitive, and fun, if simplistic. After a few hours, you'll have the go-to strategies down, and that can lead to eventual boredom before long. It's a good little distraction for the price, or at least, it should be. I may be fairly forgiving when it comes to issues that can be eventually fixed via patch, but the crashes alone are entirely too frustrating to deal with.

Hoard is a refreshing little multiplayer game that lets you be the bad guy for a change. Designed for short matches against other players, it's a somewhat limited experience, but burninating the countryside is definitely a lot of fun. Hopefully the kinks are ironed out of this PC version.

  • Hoard is quite an addictive little casual game when it gets going, but ruins it by giving the player no satisfaction from winning or reason to continue after one level. Combined with drab sound and graphics, the way it fails to explain some things properly and no sense of player progression, you have a game that manages to make you feel bored while playing as a dragon destroying the countryside. That’s something I’d never thought any game would manage to do.

About the game

Your goal is simple, but challenging: build the biggest pile of gold that you can!
Every action you take will have an effect on your score in this “stratecade” game that 1UP observes “hides a surprising layer of complexity and strategy.” To be the best, you’ll need to fly deftly, upgrade smartly, and use powerups to your advantage. Most of all, you’ll need to control the kingdom around you: Burn the crops to the ground or let them grow? Keep towns in ruins or let them flourish? In HOARD™, the dragon is in charge.
