  • Hitman GO is a superb turn-based strategy puzzle game that takes the stealth elements from the original Hitman games and translate them into a rather beautifully designed board-game format.

  • Hitman Go VR feels unnecessary. It's an excellent puzzle game, but it's already available on a bunch of different platforms where it plays very well; the non-VR versions will be enough to enjoy everything Hitman Go has to offer. Solving its puzzles is as satisfying and enjoyable as eliminating a target without getting detected, but the VR version shouldn't be your first choice to experience them.

  • Hitman GO is a competent puzzler with a subtly beautiful aesthetic. It's mostly fixed solutions may seem like a poor fit for the Hitman series, but it wears the theme well and, while it could benefit from being more taxing, still offers an enjoyably and satisfying set of challenges.

  • Hitman Go: Definitive Edition is a simplistic travel game that doesn't fit on the PS4. If you own a Vita, travel a lot and don't have much time to game, this is perfect for you.

  • It easily met my expectations and is perfect to while away a few minutes here and there. It might be a simplified version of Hitman, but it does simple very well.

It’s fairly obvious that Hitman GO was a mobile game. That doesn’t make it any less of a game either, it just seemingly does feel more suitable “on the go” gameplay. Presentation is minimal in lots of ways with lack of vastly huge animations, or environmental effects. It’s all rather sublime and sterile in ways, but feels both fitting for Hitman and the board game flair but also a tad disappointing.

  • Hitman GO is designed to be a temporary go-to for those times you’re stuck in minor delays, like a doctor’s appointment when you’ve arrived early, not the DMV or anything crazy. It’ll do the trick, but aside from the lovely visual style, it’s a largely forgettable experience. Not a bad one, but “oh yeah, I remember playing this” nostalgia after you’ve worked through the levels in the few hours it takes to shoot through.

  • It would have been an absolute travesty to see one of the highest regarded mobile games in recent memory suffer on the big screen, but Hitman GO: Defintive Edition is a stellar way to play Square Enix Montreal’s debut title. Granted, if you’re not a fan of the original mobile release, then a collection of all of its content is probably not going to change your mind whatsoever, but those with an aversion to mobile gaming are going to find themselves in for a treat here.

  • While Hitman GO may have been tailor-made for the mobile crowd, it’s just as good on PlayStation with the new Definitive Edition. The same head-scratching puzzle gameplay that surprised everyone in 2014 is still great in 2016, and the fact that you’re getting all of the game’s additional content, upgraded visuals and cross-buy/cross-play for $7.99 is an awesome deal. If you’re a fan of puzzle games or a fan of the Hitman series you need to give this game a shot, as it blends both into a package that is a ton of fun to play.

  • If you’ve already got the game in to-go form, there’s really no reason to opt into its release on consoles; this version is just as fun and cerebral as the mobile experience, but it’s held back a bit by its lack of portability. That’s not to say anything is necessarily lost, but it’s definitely a pick-up-and-play experience that’s better enjoyed on the move — “GO” is in the title for a reason.
