  • Hakuoki: Edo Blossoms is not what it markets itself as. Instead of a frilly samurai epic, it’s a monster fantasy that steeps itself in Japanese lore and historical politics. It sidesteps its marketing to be a title that anyone looking for a good story can enjoy. The ladies love it, which is always fantastic. Otaku dude-bros with a sword fetish as well as manga nerds, however, will also have a fantastic time with this one.

  • Hakuoki: Edo Blossoms is a great cap to Kyoto Winds, even though the two games being released so far apart and as two packages does tend to cheapen things. It's a little on the short side too, but it's got everything a great visual novel needs and then some. If you're interested in wooing samurai vampire boys or just in the mood for something a little less on the nose than other current visual novels, this should make for a great weekend play. Just make sure you enjoy those vampirism scenes in private, you hear?

  • Edo Blossoms is also the shorter of the two games. This means that if you’re only interested in a few of the romances then you might be disappointed by how quickly things wrap up. That said, there are a dozen of cute samurai boys to romance, so you’ll largely get your money’s worth as long as you want to see every possible outcome. If you played through Kyoto Winds then you largely owe it to yourself to finish the story here in Edo Blossoms.

  • Hakuoki: Edo Blossoms offers a very satisfying conclusion to the Hakuoki tale. Boasting a fascinating narrative filled with bloody battles and political intrigue that's topped off with plenty of alluring characters and romances that feel deep and meaningful, this is an easy game to recommend to those who love a good story.

  • As far as visual novels go, I can’t recommend this one enough. Not only does Hakuoki: Edo Blossoms serve as a fitting in for the Hakuoki duology, but it does so in a way which allows it to step out from under the shadow of its predecessor, and shine all on its own. Boasting a very likeable pre-established cast, 13 unique and exciting stories, and gorgeous audio and visuals, you would be a fool not to want to visit the Shinsengumi again.

  • Hakuoki: Edo Blossoms is potentially the best otomate game made thus far and is in its finest possible form here. The extra bachelors give fans a new perspective on a now old story. With the Vita on the way out and a new Sony handheld seemingly unlikely, visual novel fans should rejoice in these stories while they have a chance.

  • Together, these two Hakuoki games are a great experience and story, and are filled with incredible, memorabke characters. It just feels odd that they’re split in two at all. They’re begging for a complete PS4 port. With 12 characters to romance, there’s a heap of excellent content across both titles. It’s just a bit of a shame that (perhaps out of necessity), Edo Blossoms feels like the weaker of the two halves, which isn’t always the best position for a conclusion to be.

  • The Hakuoki Edo Blossoms has an entertaining story but takes too long to get too the next point in a scene as this is a bad way for a player if there in a rush or enjoy a fast paced game this game would be more suited to players who play RPG's and are used to long dialogue boxes as well as their constant choices that appear on screen it was a good game but there are thirteen stories to play through and if you play through two times and notice similarity's and start to get a little bit bored then you would dislike this game it is similar to any rpg once you completed it.
