  • If you’re looking for a different kind of Minecraft, where you can get goods from trees, be sure to check Growtopia. Although the game exists for quite a while already, the move to consoles was maybe a tad too late. The graphics feel old and bland while the sound isn’t that spectacular either. Control wise, the game feels clunky on the PS4 and if you don’t invest some time trying to get to know some of the mechanics of the game, you’ll be ditching this one faster than you can see one of the trees grow.

  • The possibilities in Growtopia are only limited by your imagination (well, that and your patience with other random people punching you into the lava to perish - again). A chat theoretically lets you collaborate with others. There's heaps to explore and complex combinations of items to discover. I found Growtopia to be far too frustrating to want to play on a long-term basis. There are simply too many people in the sandbox. The over-the-top indie graphics don't do anything for me either.

  • Growtopia takes the now-familiar mining and crafting genre, and turns it into a massively multiplayer grow-your-own-stuff game that unfortunately allows for, and maybe even encourages, griefing and scamming.

  • An intriguing builder with platforming elements that, while aiming for collaboration, seems more suitable for competition and trolling. If you like Terraria or Minecraft, it's worth a look.

  • A hollow, crude experience with very little to do or see. I found it quite boring and unrewarding. Its saving grace was the fact it was free and a small amount of fun can be found when playing online with friends. There are far better games within this genre, even if it means spending a small amount of cash on them.
