- Whether or not it is your first time playing or the tenth time, Grim Fandango Remastered still seems enjoyable and holds up over all these years. Although there are a few complaints here and there they are minor and shouldn’t be held too much against the title. The overall story is a rewarding experience that should not be missed.
Heath Shusterman-Zimmerman · Dec 31, 2018 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - A feast for the eyes, a pleasure for the senses, and a delight for the soul, Grim Fandango was, and still is, one of the greatest adventure games of all times. As always, the secret behind any great piece of fiction are characters, and although in this particular case they are technically as dead as a doornail, you won’t have a choice but to start caring for Manny Calavera and his compatriots from the Land of the Dead.
Brandon Rhuhm Wolfe · Jul 30, 2018 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - One thing I DO like about the mobile adaptation is that it is very easy to solve a puzzle or two and put it down. The save system is quick and intuitive and there are very very few times the action gets too involved for on the go gaming. ...If you ever thought of playing an adventure game, this is the rosetta stone that has been out of print for too long, go get it!
Andrew Fretz · May 27, 2015 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - This Android version actually ends up being more full-featured than its console and PC counterparts, thanks to the addition of an auto-save. This was one of the major frustrations of the re-release, and to see it corrected here, especially on a platform with less traditional play sessions, is great.
Isaac Davis · May 20, 2015 Reviewed on AndRead full review - A question you might want to ask yourself is which platform to get Grim Fandango Remastered for, since Double Fine has pumped it out onto most. It’s a comparable experience on all, so you really only need to shell out once for this game’s majestic return, and certainly the iOS and Android version is the equal of the larger system. If you’ve not picked it up yet and nostalgia is tugging at your thumbs, by all means go mobile.
Spanner Spencer · May 11, 2015 Reviewed onRead full review - Regardless of the platform, Grim Fandango Remastered is an adventure game that genre fans and nostalgia lovers absolutely should not miss. It isn’t necessary to play it on everything of course, but if you haven’t taken the plunge yet it feels right at home on iOS.
Rob Rich · May 06, 2015 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - I want to recommend it, but the technical issues not only hampered my enjoyment of the game, at a certain point they completely prevented me from playing it. The core game is fun, but I would recommend sticking with one platform throughout and rotating save slots.
Dave Payerle · Feb 10, 2015 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Playing Grim Fandango should be done with the mindset that you are going on a trip. Soak in the world. Be as gregarious as possible. Seek out all the characters the game has to offer. Talk to them and especially listen to them. They will be sure to bring a smile or belly laugh your way if you do. Unfortunately the gameplay aspects of Grim Fandango have not aged gracefully. Even saying poorly is being kind. Yet the world, the characters and stories it contains are still top shelf. Go for the adventure, stick around for the laughs.
Lou Sytsma · Feb 10, 2015 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Keys were obtained courtesy of the developer and Grim Fandango Remastered was played on both the Mac and PS Vita.
Georgina Young · Feb 09, 2015 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - This obscure tale of the underworld still provides an experience unlike any other, just don’t be surprised if you find yourself wishing there were more features implemented to help modernize it. Nevertheless, Grim Fandango Remastered is a must-have for fans of the original, adventure game enthusiasts and those who simply want something different from the norm accompanied by top-notch storytelling.
