  • As it stands this is a £45 game, it is neither fair nor warranted that this game is just okay. Codemaster’s had already promised ahead of its release that Grid (2019) would be receiving a bevy of further racetracks, cars and modes for its player base. Yet with a dwindling interest, this seems too little too late.

Grid is a decent reboot. Sure, it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles that some may expect and the number of tracks are a bit lackluster, but what it is missing is made up for with great handling cars and a fun race gameplay. People looking for a good racer havefound one here even with the issues it may have.

  • In the end what you have is a racer that plays amazingly, but has no content, cars, or tracks. It’s still lots of fun at times, and the new crowd system that makes reactions more realistic do make races feel more vibrant. It just wears out it’s welcome far too quickly and doesn’t provide any reason to keep playing past a certain point.

  • This is still an entertaining racer, one that looks lovely and runs smoothly. But I can’t help but feel like a premium-priced game like this should be doing a bit more, especially if you compare it to something like Forza Horizon 4, a similarly arcadey experience, but with considerably more to offer. Had GRID explored some of its ideas in greater depth, that might have given it the extra boost for a podium finish. Yet talented on the track as it maybe, it nonetheless falls just short of that.

  • Maintaining all the trademarks that distinguished it from other arcade racers, Grid has returned boasting driving just as engaging as before. Limits are reached in some core areas of gameplay such as though such as the number of locations, and the formula may prove stale for those looking for a road less traveled.

  • Overall, Grid is a fun racing game that gives you a good variety of options for cars and maps, but in the same token is found lacking in these categories as well. For as big as the world is, and for as many car companies are out there, you want a little bit more variety in a racing game that is spread out globally. Grid is launching today for $59.99 USD and gives you more than enough to get your money’s worth out of it.

  • Once again, Codemasters has proved that it deserves a place in the grand pantheon of racing game developers with GRID. Alongside the DiRT games and F1 series, GRID is another exemplary racer that will scratch the itch of even the most demanding racing game player.

  • GRID is a fantastic audiovisual experience, a decent racing game, and a barebones package. It’s the epitome of just enough, but enough is the optimal word here. Here’s hoping the next GRID can kick on bigger, better, and more ambitious things.

  • Ultimately, Codemasters plays it safe with GRID, for better and worse. There’s certainly a lack of features, less modes, and a lesser number of cars and tracks than other contemporary racers. This is a no-frills arcade racer, but a very good one. If solid racing action is the only thing you care about, GRID has it in spades. The new features which lean mostly on the AI improvements to better the racing experience are a mixed bag, but they improve the overall quality of the game on the track.

  • Track selection is a little lean with a mix of real world and fictional tracks. Real world tracks hearken from Sepang, Sydney, and Indianapolis while the classic San Francisco track is resurrected. Havana is the site of another fictional track. There are 13 locations that tally up to 80 different routes thanks to being able to play them in reverse. You can also race them at night and in the rain. If you tire of the game’s AI racing, multiplayer racing is also supported.
