  GolfStar offers an enjoyable and tactical game of golf in every swing as players experience a number of different courses with gorgeous scenery.

  So I don’t know if I’ll ever make it out on the real live putting green again anytime soon, but for the time being, I think GolfStar is going to make a pretty nice alternative to going outdoors, and I am perfectly okay with that.

  The actual golfing portions of the game are serviceable and even sometimes very fun (though missing a birdie always elicits vulgarities to spew from my mouth), but it's held back by a thinly-veiled attempt to cash in on the success of the free-to-play model and just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. It may be a free game, but it's still not worth the price.

  It's the kind of contrived energy system we've come to expect from the cynically designed free-to-play titles, in truth. The question you need to ask yourself, then, is: do you really want to jump through GolfStar's incessant financial hoops when all you get in return is a competent, though far from exceptional, arcade golfing experience?
