- The reward for my perseverance with Goblin Stone would be a well-narrated bit of storybook exposition and perhaps a new combat class or weapon tier, before heading back to base to find missing inventory items, goblins, and stats being reset to the impossibly low 0/0/0. It’s just boggling stuff, making for an arguably unplayable late game that kills any curiosity and goodwill that the first impressions made. A disappointment, as there is genuinely a heap of interesting ideas here repurposed from turn-based indie greats, but Goblin Stone forces its implementation onto rails with no fanfare and no incentive or reward for player experimentation or even investment.

Though some bits drag, the game's strategic depth, beautiful environments, and adorable tiny details like the fact goblins sometimes trip as they run across the landscape greatly help offset this. Goblin Stone as a whole is an incredibly creative undertaking, and has a lot to offer any fantasy, turn-based strategy, or roguelite fan.

La vuelta de tuerca en lo narrativo ayuda mucho a mantener el interés, pese a un sistema de progreso un tanto tedioso y que no encaja con lo que quiere contar.

Même si bride par bride on arrive à gagner en puissance, l'intérêt stagne et le sur-place mine le moral. Il reste du travail de peaufinage sur Goblin Stone, que ce soit sur la forme comme dans le fond, mais son plus gros défaut est structurel, et il aura fallu bien plus de contenu pour nourrir ses ambitions. Ou bien il aurait fallu condenser l'expérience pour un titre plus court et plus percutant (qu'on aurait relancé avec plaisir ?)
