- As hinted at earlier, there are two different main modes, Classic and Adventure; the former has a bunch of sections that can be explored and enjoyed. It all comes together nicely, and the premium styling is to be lauded. This is one game that translated better on bigger tablets, but it was a fun experience on smartphones too.

I didn’t think there could be anything new under the Geometry Wars sun, or that there could be any good reason to resurrect the once-loved franchise for another go round.

It's built for short sessions and lots of replayability. I only had to wait a few months to finally play this somewhere other than my computer.

The boss fights remain a titanically poor decision for a series focused on lightning-fast, frenetic gameplay, but when the rest of the package has only gotten better and more varied, they're a frustrating but small price to pay.

Fans of the series will love it, and gamers with a competitive streak who are new to the series should take to it instantly. This is a definite buy for your Xbox One as it will bring back memories for veterans of the series while introducing the franchise to those who’ve never played it.

The star-based progression system is a head-scratcher of a decision, as it likely blocks the majority of players, and is strictly there to give skilled players a real run for their money.
