- It’s all in good fun, though. Game Dev Tycoon is one of those simulation games that does it right. You don’t feel a pull from one mechanic over another. The money is relatively easy to manage, and it’s as easy to lose as it is to win. With well-balanced, smooth gameplay, you’ll find yourself sucked in for endless hours of gameplay.
Rachel Poli · Oct 26, 2020 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Game Dev Tycoon is a must-play management game for anyone who follows the games closely. It does a phenomenal job of rendering the industry accurately, while also building a satisfying game around it. Even if you don’t follow games that much, there’s plenty to like about Game Dev Tycoon. It’s simply a fantastic game.
Campbell Bird · Dec 01, 2017 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - It’s the perfect sort of game for mobile devices and there’s so much to do here in terms of developing personnel, researching items, and making games that there’s loads of replayability for quite a long time. An oldie, but a goodie, all players owe it to themselves to check out this great port.
Eric Ford · Nov 28, 2017 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - When Game Dev Story introduced the idea of a game development sim to Japan in '97 and then the West in 2010, it was a novel concept that made overlooking its flaws easier. While Game Dev Tycoon is a superior experience with a better interface for its platform, it still suffers from the same pitfalls of monotony and lack of player feedback that Game Dev Story suffered from.
Allistair Pinsof · May 15, 2013 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Game Dev Tycoon displays masterful execution of balancing addictiveness and enjoyability, despite the niggling feeling that they merely copied and/or built-upon Kairosoft’s Game Dev Story.
Nick Hanchet · Oct 29, 2020 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - I found it all so addictive that the years just flew by, there was never a dull moment with time flashing past at a breakneck pace. Coupled with the captivating gameplay, the game will cause you to hurtle through at alarming speed.
Matt Skidmore · Dec 13, 2017 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - Game Dev Tycoon may be five years old, but it's still every bit as good as it was when it first launched on PC.
Ric Cowley · Dec 01, 2017 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - Overall I've enjoyed my time with Game Dev Tycoon creating my own gaming empire, regurgitating 'Mortal Wombat' every other year while attempting to create my own MMORPG involving zombies. It has been quite the time sink as there is that draw of "one more game" to it, just in this case you're developing one more game in the hopes of a blockbuster hit.
