ΝΙΚΟΣ ΠΛΩΜΑΡΙΤΕΛΗΣ · Oct 17, 2024 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Frostpunk is, without a doubt, not an easy game and requires extensive strategizing and multiple playthroughs to succeed. It takes a lot of effort and a fair amount of alertness to get the job done, but once your decisions prevail and your city is thriving, the sense of accomplishment is unlike no other. With its intense premise and the pressure of making tough choices, Frostpunk is undeniably one of the most challenging and addicting city-building strategy games I have ever played.
Stephanie Sung · Oct 28, 2019 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Frostpunk is that winter survival game that will embody the struggles of perpetual winter. Having to keep your people warm, well-fed, healthy and happy while fighting the cold, harsh conditions, morale destruction, and rioting. Its easy controls, well-balanced gameplay and gripping story in combination with a carte blanche on how you lead your people will make Frostpunk an amazing game for anyone to play. Try out your survival skills on Endurance, build whatever you want in Serenity, explore the story and be the glorious leader they all need.
MC_JP · Oct 27, 2019 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - From the developers of 2014’s This War of Mine, it shouldn’t be any surprise that Frostpunk: Console Edition is full of gut-checking and dark social overtones throughout. It sometimes feels more like a social experiment for college credits, but Frostpunk keeps you challenged and engaged while it forces you to check your morality meter.
Todd Eggleston · Oct 26, 2019 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - To say Frostpunk is fun would be like saying watching The Road is fun. It’s engaging, challenging, inventive and unique. It cleverly re-purposes old genre tropes, and embraces the rigors of micromanaging dire people in a dark time with such earnest that it’s hard not to get charmed into hours of sadistic yet satisfying struggle.
Jarrett Green · Oct 10, 2019 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Without skipping a beat from the original PC game, Frostpunk’s console port is a slick and efficient strategy game of misery and compromise in the coldest apocalypse. You could say it’s the cold standard in console strategy.
Darryn Bonthuys · Oct 10, 2019 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Frostpunk: Console Edition is a fantastic port: it overhauled its UI and controls intelligently, it runs well, and its priced fairly. At times it doesn’t even feel like a port, but like a version of the game that was developed alongside the PC version. Nothing about the brutal Frostpunk experience has been lost in the translation, and for those who heard all the praise last year but lacked the requisite PC they can now sit down and play 11 Bit’s masterpiece on the platform of their choice (well, barring the Switch it sounds like: sorry Nintendo fans).
Brandon Adams · Oct 10, 2019 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Frostpunk can be overhelming and would benefit from a longer tutorial, so it’s understandable if those new to the genre find it too tricky. But a well-conceived narrative and premise makes it worth picking up whether you’re new to the genre, or have years of city-building experience behind you.
Heidi Nicholas · Oct 10, 2019 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Frostpunk is a unique take on city-building and crisis management that manages to make you care about the simulated humans that make up your workforce and citizenry in a way that other games in the genre don't. Each person is an integral cog in the machine that keeps your city warm and alive and managing their needs along with the resources that you require made for a frantic and rewarding experience.
Brittany Vincent · May 09, 2018 Reviewed on PCRead full review - If doom and gloom isn't your thing then Frostpunk won't appeal and you're better off with a less misery-drenched city-builder such as the excellent Cities: Skylines. But if you're a sucker for the punishing post-apocalyptic (and this game can certainly dish it out) then Frostpunk's bleak winter wonderland will keep you hooked, turning you into a horrible, horrible person in the process.
