- Firefall is middling. If you have free time to spare, the fact that it won’t cost you anything to try is a huge win. If it manages to sink its teeth into you over the first few hours, you might just be hooked. Personally, I’ll pass.
Joey Davidson · Aug 29, 2014 Reviewed on PCRead full review - If you can't entertain yourself by clambering around the environment to line up a nice screenshot, then this remediation of rates becomes the salient feature of Firefall. The game is a cold war against the extra seconds, minutes, and hours that are cast in front of you to turn the eye towards the real-money marketplace.
Nick Capozzoli · Aug 26, 2014 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Simply put, Firefall is one of the most robust and best-playing F2P MMOs you can find. Its combat is stellar, gliding never gets old, and crafting is a truly worthwhile venture. The notion that players will push back the melding (see the embedded trailer above), and pick what parts of the world are uncovered next is an exciting one.
William Murphy · Aug 22, 2014 Reviewed on PCRead full review - If you want to play an MMORPG, you would be better off spending a few bucks up front for something that's actually fun.
Alex Langley · Aug 15, 2014 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Visually, it has its moments of beauty. Looking at distant vistas and lush environments are a pretty spectacle to see, but then there are times, particularly character models and looking at things close up, where Firefall looks like a game from 2005. I do, however, really enjoy the colorful look and aesthetic to it all. I really enjoyed the art style.
Drew Leachman · Aug 14, 2014 Reviewed on PCRead full review - I had some fun blasting around and mowing down baddies with my Dreadnaught's heavy machine gun. But in its current state? It's not a world that I want to stick around to save.
Leif Johnson · Aug 12, 2014 Reviewed on PCRead full review - These are all small inconveniences, but they add up. Yes, free-to-play games must strike a balance between time and money, but here that balance feels off. Not because of the contents of the store, or the value of each currency, but because Firefall is rarely engaging enough to make the commitment worthwhile.
Phil Savage · Aug 06, 2014 Reviewed on PCRead full review - It's a game I found myself enjoying in ever shorter bursts as the prospect of farming more XP and Crystite from yet another nest of alien bugs, or finding another lost family member for a crudely modelled NPC, became less and less enticing. If Red5 can fix the pace, there's a potentially worthwhile game here. Right now, it just doesn't offer a compelling reason to spend your time, let alone your money.
Dan Whitehead · Aug 11, 2014 Reviewed on PCRead full review - All these problems could be fixed in the coming months – the bugs can be patched out, quests can be rewritten and made more varied and lively, crafting can be balanced to make it worthwhile, and the number of dynamic events can be increased. Something can be done, too, to encourage team play. But, until then, there is no reason to start playing.
Julian Benson · Aug 07, 2014 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Firefall's point of pride, it's competitive PvP was removed for reworking just before launch, leaving players with only a poorly tacked on PvE aspect to occupy them until it returns at an unknown date.
