  • While throwing dukes as licensed professional boxers is fun, the real meat is in the career mode. Choose your weight class, mold your face like a block of clay (before other boxers get a chance), divvy up your stat points and begin your life as an up-and-coming boxer.

Round 3 is still one hell of an addicting multiplayer game that provides hours and hours of hardcore boxing fun. The toned-down haymakers, better balancing, and inclusion of various styles makes playing with your buddy an awesome experience, and the mechanics are so good it even makes fighting against the CPU worthwhile in the beginning.

  • Now that 2k has announced that it will be stepping into the ring with EA, it'll be interesting to see how many rounds the two gaming giants will last for. But for now, EA remains on top with another solid entry into the Fight Night series. Even though there isn't a whole lot here that we haven't seen before, if you dig the sport, this purchase should be an obvious one. And if you have an Xbox 360, well then, all the better.

  • EA Sports' heavy-hitting franchise doesn't change up its approach for the third time through, but the gameplay remains as tight and enjoyable as it has always been. So while there are no surprises in store, you can expect a great game of boxing, with a fully capable single-player experience backing up an excellent online multiplayer game.

Fight Night Round 3 is a great sports title, but negligible improvements in the career mode and idiotic computer AI hold the game back from true greatness. Removing the HUD, in combination with visible emotion, creates a more instinctive boxing experience, especially when moving in for the knockout. There are some strange choices in the presentation department, like the lack of rankings, but the outstanding graphics and sound effects create a great in-game experience, which is what counts.

  • The 360 version of Fight Night Round 3 is by far the most impressive boxing title ever released, even if the gameplay differences between this and previous versions are fairly incremental. Certainly, we're not huge fans of the sport here, yet it's easy to get over any indifference for the subject matter and have huge amounts of fun with one of the best titles released so far this year.
