  • In short, FIFA 23 makes a lot of great additions to the core gameplay, making the actual football feel smoother, more realistic and tactically more diverse, with the new AcceleRATE system in particular ensuring that fast players no longer dominate the online sphere.

  • FIFA 23 provides a strong outing in the catalogue of football games. It’s focused on a lot of aspects that needed work and provides a fun and full experience that gives veterans something new to aim for and newcomers to the game a good jumping on point, even if the next game will have a different naming convention.

  • FIFA 23 is a fitting end to an era, successfully capturing the essence of the beautiful game alongside the disheartening practices of the profit-hungry vultures circling overhead. It's as much about greed as it is about scoring a screamer.

  • Overall, FIFA 23 is a solid final entry in the current partnership between FIFA and EA Sports. It has enough freshness for those who buy the game year-in year-out to appreciate the changes, although fairweather players may still be likely to wait for the game to come to subscription services before they want to dive in.

  • FIFA 23 is the best feeling football game currently on the market, the gameplay is much better this time around than it was in FIFA 22. It's just a shame the lack of attention to the single player game modes, and Pro Clubs, lets the rest of the game down.

  • FIFA 23 welcomes the future of football gaming with Hypermotion2. With the considerable improvements made, this is undoubtedly one of the most authentic football games ever.

  • At its core, FIFA 23 is a solid game that offers a whole lot to experience. Sure, some passes won’t go where you expect them to and yes, too many gameplay tweaks will inevitably unbalance things from time to time.

  • At the end of the day, FIFA 23 is a release that’ll probably keep many players on board next year when EA Sports FC will be thrown into the battle for the very first time. It’s a major release in pretty much every regard, and while some things are missing, such as VAR and the support for only three substitutions, this is by far the best FIFA. Ever.

  • All in all, then, while not a revolution, EA hasn’t rested on its laurels when it comes to FIFA 23. From meaningful tweaks and additions to modes, to a noticeably improved on-pitch experience, it’s simply bigger and better than its predecessors in every single way.

  • FIFA 23 builds on the current-gen hardware foundations laid by its predecessor to rank as the most authentic and comprehensive soccer simulator ever made. It still can’t escape the gambling-adjacent frustrations that have tainted the FIFA experience for several years now, but the addition of HyperMotion 2 technology and refreshment of long-standing gameplay mechanics ensure FIFA 23 resembles something close to the swansong this decades-old franchise deserves.
