- Fade to Silence is an average game with a lot of potential like winter survival, co-op, story development, survivor management and fighting, but suffers from the imperfection of those same features. The Story could be more engaging, the AI and pathfinding of the other survivors isn’t always great and the co-op isn’t always smooth. It feels like more could have been done with the fighting and diversity of enemies. While it is also clear that the team has fixed and might fix several more issues in the future, you might still run into things that utterly ruin the otherwise fine experience.
Rex · May 21, 2019 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - A game in which you have to survive the cold harsh elements of a post-apocalyptic world overrun with eldritch monsters sounds like the perfect title for me. Unfortunately, Fade To Silence just couldn’t deliver a fun gameplay experience despite all the ingredients being there.
Kyle Nicol · May 19, 2019 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Fade To Silence's cool weather system and interesting ideas can't make up for a derivative combat system, samey open world design, poor story, and several severe bugs. This is an adventure you won't want to survive.
Will Borger · May 15, 2019 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Fade to Silence contains many interesting elements, but they simply do not combine well. The mix of a meditative base builder with clunky combat and the stress of permanent death results in a gameplay experience that is certainly unique, but unfortunately not enjoyable.
Amy Davidson · May 10, 2019 Reviewed on PC - In my opinion, the game culminates into an expert combination of storytelling, survival, and community management, leaving me quite satisfied with the result. True, there are a lot of survival games out there, and aside from obvious clones, each is trying to find their niche to hopefully push their game, their story, into something more than the standard fare. For me, though not perfect, this game hits that goal. Well done, THQ Nordic.
Sythrael · May 09, 2019 Reviewed on PCRead full review - All in all, Fade to Silence has been an enjoyable experience for me. Itâs got the resource management and camp building that I seem to be drawn to and challenging but not Soulsbourne level enemies to tackle. The glitches are easily fixed with patches (knock on wood that they are in the pipeline), and thereâs a decently sized map to explore with hidden passages and caverns to loot.
Annette Polis · May 07, 2019 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Fade to Silence suffers from major flaws that prevent it from being truly enjoyable. Significant redesigns are needed to bring this game up to snuff.
Benjamin Boven · May 01, 2019 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Fade to Silence offers quite an accessible survival adventure that knows exactly when to push your buttons. The game’s seemingly interesting world is full of possibilities and dangers of equal measure, ensuring that there’s always some event to take on throughout. The drawback, however, is that of its lack of polish and mechanical depth, together with its awkward combat. Shame really, with more time in the oven, this could have been a big hit.
Mark Sherwood · Apr 30, 2019 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Fade to Silence‘s strengths definitely outweigh its weaknesses, though. Its unique setting makes you want to go out and discover its secrets. Its camp building elements reward you for seeking out other survivors and building bonds with them. And the survival aspects give the game depth and added challenge. It isn’t just a bog-standard adventure game with a frosty backdrop; in Fade to Silence, the weather is your biggest foe. Whether you’re a fan of action-adventure or survival games, Fade to Silence is well worth checking out.
Richard Seagrave · Apr 30, 2019 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Stunning visuals and survival mechanics shine in Fade to Silence. Unfortunately, companion management, bugs, crashes, and uninspiring combat lead to an experience that you just want to fade away.
