- F1 22 is still a good F1 experience, albeit with less content than earlier entries. We didn’t really appreciate the F1 Life mode, which just adds useless cosmetics that will actually cost you real money in order to unlock them. Nonetheless, outside of a few struggles with the AI, this year’s F1 game offers more of the same, and fans of the series will still find enough to scratch their racing itch.
Ibuki · Jul 20, 2022 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - F1 Life and microtransactions are probably the weak spots. The first is still in its early days and Codemasters and EA could further refine it in the long term, while the latter comes down to a concept that it doesn’t even deserve to be talked about.
Bogdan Popa · Jul 18, 2022 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - The graphics of the game are moderately improved, with ray tracing now available all the time as opposed to only in certain, non-racing circumstances in the previous game. Lighting seems improved this time around, with sunbeams and "god rays" more noticeable. Little details are deflected more accurately in the liveries of the cars, and slight reflections are captured in some of the interior bits. It's the best-looking game of the series so far, but it reuses a lot of the same assets from at least the last couple of entries.
Tony "OUberLord" Mitera · Jul 10, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full review - It's in the omissions and lackluster additions where F1 22 falters somewhat, with less content than last year's entry and a paid battle pass-like system that locks away many cosmetic items behind a paywall.. It's a few rare missteps for a series that has been consistently great for so long, but thankfully it delivers in the high-octane action on track, where it matters most.
Alessandro Barbosa · Jul 07, 2022 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - The game engine is just getting a bit long in the tooth. In any case, with what’s shaping up to be one of the best Formula 1 seasons in years, there’s never been a better time to get into motorsports and the best place to start might just be F1 22.
Justin Reeve · Jul 04, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full review - There is a lot to like here and only one questionable feature. The on-track experience is great. Any gripes about how the F1 22 cars lack the nimbleness of the previous generation is based on reality. The F1 Life is a questionable addition, but at least, so far, not an intrusive one.
Lou Sytsma · Jul 01, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full review - With its typically deep and rich career mode and its usual class-leading spectrum of assists and difficulty options, F1 22 maintains this series’ run as the most fully-featured and accessible reproduction of a single modern motorsport on the market – and long-awaited tweaks to some of its most reused elements haven’t gone unnoticed, either. It’s not quite as bold as F1 2021, though, and the footwear-and-furniture-focussed F1 Life mode really isn’t a patch to cover the lack of last year’s ambitious story mode.
Luke Reilly · Jul 01, 2022 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - Frankly, I think most of the newer inclusions in F1 22 have been poor. This year’s installment makes blatant yet weak attempts to appeal to casual gamers while ignoring the core fanbase that has supported the series up until now. F1 22 feels like the most corporate entry in the series to date, with the introduction of F1 Life being especially out of touch.
Kurt Perry · Jun 30, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full review - F1 22 is another super solid entry in Codemasters' superlative run of racers. There may not be any really pressing reason to pick this one up if you own last year's game, but besides a lack of new ways to play and an F1 Life mode that's all a bit pointless in the end, this is still the pinnacle of F1 video game action that fans of the sport will no doubt be enjoying until F1 23 drops.
PJ O'Reilly · Jun 29, 2022 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - Despite its flaws and F1 Life feeling like a bit of an excuse for extra microtransactions, F1 2022 is another great entry into the series and will keep new and returning players busy until next year’s game!
