Critic Reviews
- Despite a few recycled assets managing to creep its way in, Codemasters have polished F1 2020 where it counts, and the all-new features are a welcomed new coat of paint. F1 2020 may not be the racing simulation game we deserved, but it is the one we needed. With an accessible, yet incredibly deep dive into Formula One, F1 2020 brings life back into a series that hasn’t seen this level of fun in many years.
Keegan Govender · Aug 06, 2020 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - When it comes to simulating a professional sport for both newcomers and veterans, F1 2020 is a masterpiece. It won’t let you get disappointed if you’re looking for highly stressful and exciting racing experience, though it’s not a perfect game in the case of visuals.
Mehrdad Khayyat · Jul 24, 2020 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - F1 2020 is not just a great Formula 1 game but one of the best racers released this generation, thanks to its responsive driving, wealth of options, and in-depth game modes.Die hard fans of the sport will love the realistic simulation it can provide but F1 2020 also has plenty of appeal for more casual racers. This is easily one of the best racing titles of recent times and a must-buy for fans of the sp
Nathan Gibson · Jul 17, 2020 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Overall the game is the same as F1 2019 with some tracks redesigned and with the My Team mode added. It should give people a couple seasons to go through instead of career mode, which is still available for those who want to do both. We may not be too far away from having an F1 motorsport manager game or even an add on if this keeps going, maybe for those more interested in managing rather then racing.
Vicken B · Jul 17, 2020 Reviewed on PCRead full review - This is a brilliant, great-looking F1 sim and just keeps getting deeper the more you look into it. It’s very familiar, certainly, and still lacks the quality of car damage it had 10 years ago. It could also use a little more flair and personality in its presentation. But you’d need to have a massive chip on your shoulder not to say that F1 2020 is magnificent. It’s simply a superb game.
Justin Towell · Jul 10, 2020 Reviewed on PCRead full review - In a year where F1 is doomed to be reduced to a mere husk of what it used to be back in the day, F1 2020 is here to remind us of how exciting this sport can actually be. This is Codemasters’ most impressive game to date and I have no idea of how they’ll be able to surpass my expectations in 2021. All I know is that I shouldn’t doubt them, as I know they’re more than capable of surprising me yet again.
Leo Faria · Jul 10, 2020 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - F1 2020's career mode provides an impressive level of depth while the new driver assists make the game more accessible for new or inexperienced players. The simulation-style may be overwhelming at first, but extended playtime leads to an enjoyable experience. However, the AI and inconsistent penalties cause frustration, as do the occasional crashes. Ultimately, Codemasters created a platform for F1 fans to revisit history or create a legendary career.
John Newby · Jul 09, 2020 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - From the hefty My Team campaign mode to the inclusion of split-screen multiplayer, legendary tracks and cars, the vast amount of encyclopedia entries on everything F1 (with narration), fun and accessible gameplay, and its thriving eSports community. It’s hard to pass on F1 2020. This is the complete package and massive value for anyone interested in racing games, Formula 1 fan or not.
Nick Maillet · Jul 09, 2020 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - F1 2020 improves on virtually every aspect of the series, combining a satisfying and detailed on-track experience with a variety of old and new modes that allow for a comprehensive and engaging racing simulation.
Matt Bianucci · Jul 07, 2020 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - It does still lack that sense of speed and seems a bit complicated if you want to dive deep into Formula 1’s unique systems, but the loop of practicing and then taking everything you learned and implementing it into the main event is so satisfying. I cannot recommend F1 2020 enough.
