- Overall, Evil Genius 2 is an enjoyable game. Having not played the original I can’t say if it was or wasn’t worth the lengthy wait for this sequel, but as someone who has played his fair share of city builders and management sims, this is certainly no bad effort if you’re looking for something a little more casual, whilst still providing enough to keep you engaged for several hours. With multiple characters, each playthrough has its own twists and never did I feel like things were becoming too much of the same, which is all too frequent in gaming these days. Sure, it may not be quite so taxing for veteran city builders, but it’s certainly a welcome experience on Xbox consoles.
Carlos Santuana · Dec 21, 2021 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Evil Genius 2 provides multiple traps that can be set up in the various corridors of a lair to thwart the do-gooders of justice. Plus, the system is flexible enough to allow combos such as, freezing an agent with the ‘freeze gun’ trap and then using the ‘giant fan’ trap to blow the cube into a wall of poison darts.
Terrence Johnson · Dec 16, 2021 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Evil Genius 2: World Domination, with its whacky traps and accessible brand of evil strategy, is an easy recommendation. Seeing your lair expand from a couple of basic rooms into a fully-fledged multi-story instrument of death is one of the most gratifying gaming experiences I’ve had in 2021. Sure, the campaign can feel a little too guided at times, but that can’t overshadow the power fantasy that Evil Genius 2: World Domination provides.
Shane Boyle · Dec 14, 2021 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Evil Genius 2: World Domination is, just like over-the-top spy films, a product f its time and feels very much dated. Despite a major graphic overhaul, the game feels like something taken out of the early 2000s, and not in a cool nostalgic way. Evil Genius 2: World Domination as some strokes of actual genius, but ultimately, as all evil geniuses, fails to dominate anything at all.
RON · Dec 01, 2021 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Evil Genius 2: World Domination was a great game on PC and thankfully it’s equally as great on console. If lair building and managing a criminal empire is your thing, consider this an absolute must-play. Rebellion has done a great job ensuring that pretty much every action you could want to perform is at your fingertips on a controller.
Richard Seagrave · Nov 29, 2021 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Evil Genius 2’s strengths are its presentation and its base building mechanics. Building the ultimate Inner Sanctum, complete with devious traps and scurrying minions is a lot of fun. But the news isn’t all good. Less enjoyable are some of the game’s busywork missions, lack of clarity around goals, and overall feeling of outstaying its welcome.
Mark Steighner · Nov 29, 2021 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - Evil Genius 2 is a game in which you can create a doomsday device and bring the world to its knees – if that doesn't make you want to get caught in its diabolical clutches, then we don't know what will.
Richard Walker · Nov 29, 2021 Reviewed on PS5, PS4Read full review - The controls mostly map well and the systems pair well with a stellar concept. With melodramatic, James Bond-esque music and some entertaining voiceover work, this is a tycoon-turned-strategy title that tests your grey matter and allows you to be the villain for once. Being bad never felt so good.
Sammy Barker · Nov 29, 2021 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - For better and worse, Evil Genius 2 on console is exactly the same as on PC, complete with glitches and menu navigation. It needs a bit of work to smooth out the experience, but the game itself is a ton of fun and well worth playing, however you can get your hands on it.
David Flynn · Nov 29, 2021 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Evil Genius 2 is a beautiful game that is created by a team that had an obvious love for spy comics/cartoons. However, after the first few hours, the game lacks a diversity of content for players to explore.
