- Eternights is a fun hack-and-slash game with dating sim elements. However, it has many flaws in design that hold it back from truly shining. It ultimately lacks something to make itself feel unique but the passion placed into this game makes it worth experiencing if you’re willing to forgive all its flaws. Eternights is definitely not a game for everyone.
Jarren Navarrete · Sep 13, 2023 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - If you want a simple and clean action RPG that loves immature humor and the zombie apocalypse then you should give Eternights a try. It won’t make you delete Resident Evil, Breath of the Wild, Persona, or Darksiders, but there is enough meat on the bone to get this game on sale. Play it for the dark sci-fi story and the fun of playing anime Tinder, but also thank your lucky stars that this game is 1000% less complicated than Kingdom Hearts.
Michael Mordenga · Sep 11, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - It’s amazing to see such a passionate debut title from Studio Sai. Eternights elegantly blends in addicting and engaging action combat with dating mechanics while providing beautiful visuals and excellent voice acting. I can’t wait to see what’s next from this small team of developers.
Henry Viola · Sep 11, 2023 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Eternights is a surprisingly compelling and thoughtful horror action RPG with relationship bonding elements.
Audra Bowling · Sep 11, 2023 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Eternights is a true labor of love from a small team of developers that set out to create something for themselves. It just so happens that it’s also one of my favorite games of 2023. If you can look past the juvenile character moments and flimsy early plot devices, you’re in for an awesome experience that delivers quality action combat, hilarious character skits, and a very strong final Act. It’s an experience I won’t soon forget and one that doesn’t demand too much from players to play till the credits. The wait for this release was genuinely worth it, and I’m happy to see this ambitious project come together so brilliantly.
Azario Lopez · Sep 11, 2023 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Eternights boasts fast, frantic, and rewarding combat with numerous satisfying abilities and attacks to unlock, alongside deeply enjoyable social simulation elements. However, shortcomings like a lack of map, samey environments, and some questionable dialogue dampen the overall experience.
Catherine Lewis · Sep 11, 2023 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - The combat system and the use of bonds is excellent. The dating sim sections are fun. Even the survival scavenging elements are a fun distraction. But they all feel insubstantial. Certain activities feel repetitive or limited. The progression path you follow with every teammate feels almost identical. Scavenging is the same thing every time. Even the fights fall into a predictable rhythm after a while.
James Paley · Sep 11, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Eternights is a solid entry by Studio Sai. While lacking polish, it's an experience with some novel ideas and surprisingly sweet character relationships. If you can look past some of its rough spots, this action romance title might just win your heart.
Tyler Chancey · Sep 11, 2023 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Eternights' great success is that it manages to be more than the sum of its parts. The witty writing papers over the shakier aspects of the storytelling, the slight combat is used sparingly enough that its flaws rarely frustrate, and above all, it's got an undeniable charm despite its rough edges. We're swiping right on this one.
John Cal McCormick · Sep 11, 2023 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Eternights has that gloss, which is an accomplishment in its own right, but when you peel that away, you just find something that seems a bit bland and lifeless. Certainly, not a night you’ll remember. You’d probably be better off just keeping your hand.
