  • Endless Legend is a lovely game with deep strategy that's a singular pleasure to play, but can sometimes disappoint you in finer details. Know that if you're never going to play multiplayer, you're not getting the whole experience - so bring a friend.

  • Endless Legend may have a few flaws that hold it back from being a truly great game of its genre, that doesn't stop it from being a worthwhile title to pick up. Endless Legend's lore is fascinating, and the rich and vibrant world of Auriga is ripe for the exploring... and conquering, if you wish. Like many other 4X games, this title provides the framework for many great playthroughs, provided you take the time to learn the various systems in place.

  • Endless Legends is an ambitious game that can’t quite live up to its ambitions. With a few patches and updates, it may be able to get closer to it – but despite that it is a highly enjoyable game with a unique take on the 4x genre. With great ambitions come great opportunities. Endless Legends doesn't quite make it but is a solid title.

  • Thankfully, smart as ever, Amplitude Studios has created another astounding story-driven game, that really has taken the best bits of RTS, RPG and 4X, drawing much from Endless Space, and spun it differently for every faction. Save for the weakness of the combat, this is a game that wannabe developers should play and learn from. Given that it has eight major factions who are all nearly infinitely customisable, the replay value is, well, endless.

  • Each new game in Endless Legend feels different and exciting thanks to its well-crafted factions and earliest uncertain moments, but those initial distinctive stories begin to meld at some point therein, becoming the same experience. ...Endless Legend's driving forces are so thoroughly executed that it serves as an imperfect, but well worthwhile step in the series, and hopefully a sign of things to come.

  • With systems layered upon systems and a strong focus on narrative, Endless Legend is a deep, compelling strategy game that feels distinct from its contemporaries. Amplitude studios are quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with in the 4X market. It’s not perfect — the combat system feels wonky and the empire management isn’t quite as refined as what you’d find in Civilization.... Inventive lore, gorgeous art direction and clever use of RPG mechanics make Endless Legend an absolute treat.

  • Endless Legend is a gorgeous game, with a unique take on 4X strategy, and a tremendous amount of potential. Its interface and diplomacy systems could use a bit of improvement, but the tactical combat and decision-based campaign help make up for it. The game can be slow going, and even experienced strategy game players may need time to learn its complexities, but it's a worthwhile goal. Endless Legend doesn't quite measure up to some of the longer standing series, but it gets very close. For a relative newcomer, that's a big deal.

  • I’m actually looking forward to starting a new campaign in a week or two once I take a break. That fairly well sums up my impressions of Endless Legend. Daunting to an almost discouraging degree at first, but once you get the hang of it you’ll get sucked right in, and afterwards you’ll probably need a cooling off period before trying again. But you WILL try again.

  • Endless Legend won’t be for everyone, of course. This is very much a hexagonal conquest game that comes complete with methodic, turn-based play. While I found multiplayer way too slow and dependent on others, the single player was my jam. The best way I enjoyed this game was to fire it up in the morning, grab a cup of coffee, and prepare for a few hours to vanish.

Endless Legend plays out on one of the greatest, most beautiful maps in strategy gaming history. It combines style, substance, and setting into a marvelous overall experience for both empire management and tactical combat. It struggles slightly with strategic depth, but this is a science fiction and fantasy strategy game with tremendous soul.

    About the game

Create your own Legend. Another sunrise, another day of toil. Food must be grown, industries built, science and magic advanced, and wealth collected. Urgency drives these simple efforts, however, for your planet holds a history of unexplained apocalypse, and the winter you just survived was the worst on record. A fact that has also been true for the previous five. As you discover the lost secrets of your world and the mysteries of the legends and ruins that exist as much in reality as in rumor, you will come to see that you are not alone. Other peoples also struggle to survive, to grow, and perhaps even to conquer.
