- Whether or not Dustforce is for you centers on the question “Do you like incredibly challenging platformers?” If the answer is no, stay far away. If the answer is yes, you’d be hard-pressed to find a more rewarding experience than the one Dustforce provides. It’s not only one of the best platformers I’ve ever played, but one of my favorites of all time.
Jimmy Champane · Jul 04, 2015 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - Dustforce makes for very zen gameplay if you can get the hang of it. The game’s minimalist aesthetic and background music make for a quiet, meditative experience—that’s if you can actually play it well. If not, you’re going to dislike sweeping up leaves in the game as much as you dislike sweeping up the yard.
Mary-Anne Lee · Mar 12, 2014 Reviewed onRead full review - If you’ve gotten this far into the review, your mind has likely been made already. Dustforce may look fabulous and has some really interesting ideas but the overall execution falls somewhat short of expectation. Though still enjoyable, the fiddly controls add an unnecessary amount of challenge, barring both younger audiences and casual platformer fans.casual platformer fans
Jim Hargreaves · Mar 03, 2014 Reviewed onRead full review - I had some fun with Dustforce, and in its bright moments the game reminded me a lot of playing the old Tony Hawk games, as I was trying to complete a level while stringing together a massive combo. Unfortunately, as the game wore on it felt like the precision required to succeed was sacrificed in the name of smooth, fluid motion.
Dave Payerle · Feb 28, 2014 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - Dustforce is a very enjoyable game for the most part, but its later levels suck the entertainment out of the experience, as it becomes little more than an exercise in anger management. The game’s got a lot going for it – great visuals, outstanding audio, and overall strong mechanics – but outrageous difficulty coupled with some performance hiccups prevent it from achieving greatness.
Marcello Apostolico · Feb 17, 2014 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - Overall, Dustforce is a great game. It’s fun, it’s addictive and it has a learning curve that demands you keep improving. While the multiplayer isn’t nearly as entertaining, at least it offers you a good way to scrap with friends or strangers. While the controls and the tutorials could be improved, Dustforce has more going for it than it has detracting from it. If it comes with some updates along the way, it will even offset the minimal price tag and make it an even better bang for your buck purchase!
Doug Mercer · Feb 13, 2014 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - Dustforce is a must-play for anyone who loves 2D platform games. It’s challenging, addicting and is perfect if you love to speedrun through any given game. Sadly, the PS Vita version has problems which take away from a game that is suited to the handheld better than most.
Paul Kelly · Feb 12, 2014 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - Vita owners looking for another standout indie title for their collections should definitely give Dustforce a shot. The difficulty can be intimidating at first, but that also means it's just as rewarding. Some people may play it for hours on end, while others will load it up for brief sessions here and there. The game caters to both play-styles, and that's how a portable experience should be.
Anthony LaBella · Feb 10, 2014 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - If you’re looking for an incredibly nuanced platformer, Dustforce is an excellent choice. Playing it on the PS3 is a lot of fun, even if it leaves one hankering for the DualShock 4 instead. With fluid animation, an astonishing soundtrack, and nearly sixty levels (with more to come) to complete, it’s hard to say no. Even nearly two years after its initial release, there’s nothing else quite like Dustforce out there.
Marcus Estrada · Feb 09, 2014 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - Dustforce's delightful sweeping puts a fresh spin on the average platformer premise, with alluring presentation and exciting scenarios that help it stand out. Occasional control irritations and some unexplained elements make the brutal difficulty level feel all the more frustrating in spots, but there’s a satisfying challenge for perfectionists here.
