- As you can expect from Disney, the graphics are simply amazing and animations are wonderful indeed. This is a typical platformer that'll be loved by children and it's challenging enough to keep everyone addicted. The controls are kind of hard to get used to. We understand that it's better to play with a controller, but this isn't an excuse. Once you get the hang of it, it gets easier, but we struggled for the first few minutes.
Anna Grace · Jun 25, 2015 Reviewed on - Sorry, but your entertainment is in another castle.
Will McCool · Jul 13, 2014 Reviewed on AndRead full review - Any complaints we have are dwarfed by the sheer fun and inventiveness of the game. Simply put, Castle of Illusion is a joy to play. The graphics are stunning, and the voice acting would fit right into just about any Disney movie. Whether you played the original Castle of Illusion back in the day or not, you’ll enjoy this romp through a cartoon wonderland.
Chris Reed · Dec 01, 2013 Reviewed on iOS - Castle of Illusion benefits from an upbeat atmosphere throughout, regardless of the peril at hand, and this mood carries over into the soundtrack. Gamers can also expect quality visuals that really bring each environment to life. While by no means perfect, Castle of Illusion is a good enough platformer that pays worthy homage to the Genesis classic.
Chris Buffa · Nov 29, 2013 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - Despite my small issues that have spilled over from the remake's original platforms, I sincerely hope there are more solid ports like Castle of Illusion down the line. It's incredible how well this game was handled, as playing it on a Retina Display feels identical to any other platform. The lines of mobile and console games are blurred even further as time goes on, and games like Castle of Illusion help lead the way.
Chris Carter · Nov 26, 2013 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - All said, Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse for mobile was a very pleasant surprise. It’s not perfect, but it comes close enough, and may even be a little better than its console brethren in some regards. We weren’t able to get very far in the console demo, but managed to get along just fine in this version.
David Oxford · Nov 25, 2013 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - Castle of Illusion isn't necessarily inordinately difficult, but it does put a bit of resistance to players where they have to take some care in trying to tackle the levels. Its platforming can be challenging, and its boss fights require a bit of patience. Again, it's that great mix between the old ways of doing things and the new that this game just absolutely nails.
Carter Dotson · Nov 25, 2013 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - I do wish Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse was a bit easier to play and also had a cheaper price point. But these are minor complaints to an otherwise outstanding release. Disney will always have a direct connection to our hearts and minds, but that kind of love is won through years of excellence and unfettered imagination. Mickey may have a few illusions in store, but he's got the right kind of magic to get him by.
Greg Srisavasdi · Nov 22, 2013 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - Castle of Illusion is a beautiful game in imagery and sound yet we are left with some control issues that need some fine tuning and maybe a couple more options to make it a tad more robust. All in all Castle of Illusion is a solid game that Disney fans and those who might be looking for their next platforming fix will enjoy.
John Elliott · Sep 30, 2013 Reviewed on X360Read full review - Castle of Illusion is a faithful re-imagining of the Sega Genesis classic, which happens to be a good, but occasionally hindering thing. The shiny new HD coat of paint is captivating, the environments and enemies are animated and whimsical, and the overall modernized presentation really brings this magical world to life. Unfortunately the sluggish controls and some clumsy platforming can drag things down here and there.
