  • In fact, that’s a question that sums up Dishonored 2 as a whole. It’s a fine game that still has all the working components of Dishonored, but crams it full of new ideas that just don’t gel with it. To go with a food analogy, it’s kind of like cake. Eat a perfect piece, and it’s delicious. Try stuffing in more, and you’ll spend the night wondering where it all went wrong.

  • Dishonored 2 doesn't veer from the path established by the first game too severely, but given how strong the world and gameplay were it doesn't really have to either. The new locales and villains make for some strong additions to the series, as do the new powers unleashed by Emily Kaldwin. Even with a passable story and ineffective acting, the foundation and gameplay are strong enough to make Dishonored 2 one of the year's best.

  • What’s more, a less-than-stellar story aside, Arkane’s compensation in the visual accompaniment — be it interiors, items or dead bodies alike — makes it near-impossible not to get entrenched by the greater and/or collective presentation on show, no matter how subtle the offering may be. Dishonored 2, with its refined mechanics and expanded gameplay following suit, personifies what a sequel should be.

  • It delivers tonnes of fun, a brilliant environment with many hours of gamepla, multiple run throughs due to the two different characters choices. If the story delivered the same impact as the rest of the game then this title would no doubt become a timeless classic.

  • My playthrough of Dishonored 2 has not been without a few bugs here and there. I personally haven’t experienced many of the issues reported, but I have noticed considerable framerate inconsistencies when trying to get around a level quickly or when using the spyglass to zoom. I feel as though I should mention these issues, but they didn’t detract from my experience of the game. I’m still in love with the level design and I still think the ability system favors the use of one or two abilities.

  • As much as I've delved into the specifics of each individual system, what makes Dishonored 2 so exceptional is how it's all connected. The writing sheds light on the world, which sheds light on the systems, which sheds light on the environments and characters. For everything that works in isolation, the real trick is that Dishonored 2 feels unified—a powerful piece of world building where everything happens for a reason.

Dishonored 2 is a great game that builds a believable world and lets the player use it as a playground. For those wanting a straight-ahead action game, this is not it, and even more so than the first, stealth is highly recommended. Still it is impossible to argue just how well the team has executed their vision. Crafting one of the most unique and engrossing experiences once again. Don’t miss out on Dishonored 2, it is easily in contention for one of the best of 2016.

  • Setting aside the lack of new game plus for a moment, Dishonored 2 at its core is still a genuinely good time. Between the sprawling levels and the extensive progression system, it can take players some time to fully come to terms with the experience the game is striving for. For those willing to put the time in, veteran or newcomer, you’ll discover another exciting stealth experience to add to your library.

  • Those minor issues with the game aside, Dishonored 2 proves to be a return to a classic formula that worked so well in the orginal. Strong level design, open world exploration and the ability to play your own way with powers that can be adapted or modified how you want makes the game one of the top titles of the year. Now to start working on my low chaos playthrough.

  • Dishonored 2 occasionally stumbles under the weight of the almost too-intelligent denizens of its "Whalepunk" setting. But despite a murderous new sense of difficulty and a few surprising, if minor, shortcomings, Dishonored 2 is a much more fleshed-out realization of the world of Dunwall and the star-crossed Kaldwin family. For such a miserable, conflicted place, Dunwall and the Isles are a place worth exploring, something gaming could use a lot more of.
