- None of this is to say Destruction Allstars is a bad game, it certainly isn’t. Your first ten or so matches in any of the modes will be fun — it’s hard to not find any enjoyment from smashing into stuff — and there’s certainly potential for a quality party game, but don’t expect the fun to last very long.
Tom Hopkins · Apr 02, 2021 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Destruction AllStars is a very nice game on paper, but in its execution, it falls quite flat. While the overall gameplay loop is enjoyable, the bad servers, the zillion micotransactions and the lack of content make it tedious before long. As a free game for those owning a PS+ subscription, this game is worth a few sessions, but if you have to buy it at full price, only to encounter one paywall after another, it’s best to steer clear of this one.
Ibuki · Feb 26, 2021 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Destruction AllStars can be memorable but it’s not one of those exclusive launch games that would make an impact. I’m afraid that with the content Destruction AllStars has to offer, it will not be enough for players to stay and play for a long time, the game needs more horsepower to convince PS5 owners to buy it after it’s out of PlayStation Plus.
Lexuzze Tablante · Feb 16, 2021 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Desctruction AllStars had a chance to deliver some creative car combat and it mostly set it sights on being mediocre and forgettable. Granted it’s free for PS+ users so it’s not a large barrier to get into. But down the road this is not a game worth a price of admission unless they prove they can do something better. It’ll likely be forgotten in the eventual ocean of other PS5 exclusives that release down the road.
Ricky Knight · Feb 16, 2021 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Destruction AllStars boasts vibrant characters, an eye-catching presentation, and fairly entertaining gameplay, but the game's lack of content and underutilized ideas are sadly detrimental to its appeal. It may serve as good fun for a weekend with friends, but - despite having most of the right ingredients - doesn't have nearly the staying power it needs to succeed like its mainstream competitors on the market.
Sam Aberdeen · Feb 11, 2021 Reviewed onRead full review - The on-foot gameplay plays a large role in Destruction AllStars' true problem: It feels like there's a lot of downtime. Even though there's always a new car to find or an enemy to chase, there's only one thing that's really worth doing--crashing--which takes a lot of setup for a short-lived reward.
Mike Epstein · Feb 10, 2021 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - As a free title for PlayStation Plus owners, I can’t recommend Destruction AllStars enough. It’s fantastic fun with vibrant characters and some really fun game modes. If it costs money, it’d be a different story completely, as there’s nowhere near enough balance or content in the game as it stands right now. Stick with this one, I have a feeling it’ll be worth it.
George Foster · Feb 09, 2021 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Destruction AllStars is a fun game to watch and play. However, the slow pace of progress and lack of tangible goals limit the motivation to continue playing. The funneling towards microtransactions for progress and paywalled single-player content is frustrating. That's not to mention balance between AllStars is sorely in need of work.
Justin Koreis · Feb 09, 2021 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - The core of Destruction AllStars is arcadey fun, and I can get behind that, but only to a point – the simplicity also works against it. The car combat is shallow fun, the on-foot platforming and brawling are missing a compelling hook, and there aren’t enough modes to make the most of the whole cast.
Jordan Devore · Feb 07, 2021 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Out of the gate, Destruction AllStars is shallow and struggles to give players a compelling reason to stick with it for the long-term. But like other live service games, it's possible that Destruction AllStars will improve as the developers address fan feedback and add more meaningful content to the game.
