  • Overall, Destiny is certainly an enjoyable RPG-based shooter, with its only fault being that there just wasn’t enough primary content and story to fulfill the single-player elements of the game. For anyone who is a Halo fan, you will certainly feel at home in the game, especially in the multiplayer aspects – which you can easily lose yourself in for hours at a time. Bungie took careful care to craft what was released at launch, and while some aspects (voice acting, for example) can be a bit dry, the game is truly enjoyable.

  • The competitive multiplayer, despite being a tad unbalanced, is still fun and provides some truly great moments among friends. It’s unlikely the Destiny of today will be the same Destiny we’re playing in a few weeks or months, but the reality of the matter is the Destiny of today isn’t all that amazing. It has moments, sure, but right now Destiny relies too much on promise, and not enough on delivering.

  • It really is a question of quality over quantity. Compared against typical MMOs, it doesn’t compare in the number of quests or player classes. ...Rather than try to blow your mind with the size of its world or its innumerable named NPCs, Destiny is a game where you get to drive a speeder bike around, blow up a bunch of aliens, then shoot some people in the face.

  • One of the most glaring issues with Destiny is the actual length of the main campaign. ...One silver lining is that Destiny does have limited time-based events to keep players logging in. Currently this event is “The Queen’s Wrath.” This still points out a flaw with Destiny’s end game and that is grinding out rep with factions. Yep, for all the money spent on Destiny... it still falls down to faction grinds as an endgame.

  • Destiny is far from a perfect game, with flaws quite clearly apparent in the storytelling and the repetitive formula, but it’s also a game that can quite easily keep you coming back for more time and again, especially if you play with friends. It’s a shame that some of the ideas in the Vault of Glass Raid couldn’t trickle down into the earlier stages, for more variety and intellectual challenge, but it does at least point to an exciting future for the game.

  • Destiny feels like the key elements of an FPS and an MMO gently resting shoulder to shoulder, instead of being fused together in a truly creative way. It plays and looks great, and offers many, many hours of entertainment to anyone okay with repeating the same tasks, but it isn’t exactly the game-changing science fiction epic we felt it was aspiring to. Fortunately, that doesn’t diminish the fact that there’s a fantastic social experience here, one that we hope will only improve further with future events and DLC.

  • Destiny isn't an MMO for a large number of reasons, but it cribs mechanics that are so core to the genre (such as end-game content, gear-grinding) while forgetting the necessary extra elements that often make these features work so well. A confused hybrid that could've been so much more.

  • Destiny feels like it wasn't ready, but it was shipped anyway. It tantalizes with glimpses of brilliance, but then confounds with clunky design decisions and baffling oversights. Hopefully future updates will fix these, and Destiny will realize its full potential.

  • Vast, beautiful, and endlessly satisfying, Destiny is like a gradually-opening puzzle box of ever-more involving FPS depth. What's already there can be explored for tens of hours. What's to come is an incredibly exciting prospect.

  • A lot of work has clearly gone into Destiny, and of course a lot of money has as well. It’s a great example that cash is not what’s necessary to make a game great. Destiny, for all its beauty, for all its tried-and-true elements, needs more heart. I’m not sure that’s something an endless stream of more content will ever deliver.
