- Ultimately, Demon Gaze II surprised me. While seeming nothing more than a cheap imitation of Persona 5 or other, better dungeon crawlers, it brought its own visual style and flair and showed it could run against some of the best in the genre. It’s a real shame that the dungeons themselves weren’t more inspired, especially since they’re such a major part of any such blobber, and the biggest knock against Demon Gaze II.
Kyle Johnson · Jan 25, 2018 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - The art style in Demon Gaze II’s cutscenes is par for the course—think anime-style characters who simply emote, while animation is implied. While a similar art style is used once in battle, animation largely consists of portraits of enemies kind of floating about, and extremely basic swiping animations for attacks.
Paulmichael Contreras · Nov 17, 2017 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - No matter which way you look at it, there’s no getting around the fact that Demon Gaze II is a very solid DRPG. Not only does it manage to take everything good that we’ve already come to expect from Experience, but it even manages to up the ante due to a larger overall focus on story, and the added quirkiness of the dating mechanic. I’ve been recommending Experience games to DRPG fans for a while, now and, thanks to Demon Gaze II, I’ll continue to do so with more fervor than ever.
Kenny McKee · Nov 15, 2017 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - While dungeon crawlers typically only appeal to a certain crowd, Demon Gaze II successfully caters to all audiences by offering a low access point for newcomers and a fairly high skill cap for veterans. If you had to pick only one dungeon crawler on a handheld released this year, then you can’t go wrong with Demon Gaze II.
Jelani James · Nov 13, 2017 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - Forget the big number 'II' on the title; Demon Gaze II is very much a standalone title that tones down some of Experience Inc.'s more complex systems to create a dungeon RPG that's both accessible for newcomers with some devilishly challenging endgame content once you think you've mastered the experience.
Kai Powell · Nov 08, 2017 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - Dungeon crawlers aren’t for everyone, but Demon Gaze II is the perfect place to start for players who have yet to try out the genre. The story has as much depth as the impressive in-game customization systems that will surely impress veteran fans of the series along with being easy for newcomers to digest. I’m happy to see Experience stepping out of their comfort zone and trying new things with the dungeon crawling genre. Playing through Demon Gaze II has left me excited for whatever the developer has coming next.
Azario Lopez · Nov 07, 2017 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Demon Gaze II deviates from its predecessor in ways that makes the game a little bit easier to get into if you not typically into dungeon crawlers. While some of the more frustrating elements of the original game have been eliminated, it also leads to a game that is somewhat more bland as a result. Still, Demon Gaze II is an otherwise effective dungeon crawler that is worth a look for both genre veterans and newcomers.
Adam Vitale · Nov 07, 2017 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - This game is a classic roleplay game, with little to no character or customisations. It is solo focused on the dungeons and the relationships between the group, which will increase the time players spend playing the game. Instead of focusing on how their character look, and what their class is the game will also feature a date simulation mini game that will increase the players stats, with the character that you date and yourself the increased stats help you.
Lloyd Thomas · Jan 23, 2018 Reviewed on Vita - Demon Gaze II is an improvement upon its predecessor, and it’s an easy recommendation if you liked the first entry. Those looking for a good dungeon-crawler to grind through will want to check this out, and it’s one of the more accessible games in the genre. It’s an entertaining ride, and I hope that we see a third game someday.
Mitch Jay · Nov 28, 2017 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Demon Gaze 2 expands and improves on everything from the first game, but when the first game was the video game equivalent of 3am fast food, though, those improvements don’t amount to a ground-breaking new title in the genre. Demon Gaze 2 is just a fairly decent, quirky JRPG. It’s a pretty nice way to spend some time with your Vita, but a poor way to spend time on your PS4.
