Still, it may have some issues, just to be clear, and you may have to turn down the settings to get the best performance out of it. Dead Rising fans will get more out of it than someone who hasn’t played the series, but even with the camera and navigation problems, I still had a decent time hacking up some zombies with insane weapons. Just keep in mind; it can be cumbersome at times.

  • Dead Rising 3 is funny, and more importantly a riot to play. New players will enjoy the standard mode while classic players will get their fix in Nightmare Mode. It really is just a shame there are quite a few issues with performance on PC. Let’s hope the modding community can work their usual magic with this one.

  • I confess that I appreciate how unthreatening the zombies are in this series, but I have to lament their role as obstacles in a sandbox game. With a more engaging story that didn’t solely rely on zaniness and/or idiocy to sell itself, Dead Rising 3 could have been more worthy of recommendation. Instead, accept my lukewarm approval of it as a purchase decision.

  • With a bit more time in development, Dead Rising 3 for PC could have been the definitive version. Unfortunately, an above-average game is hamstrung by a port that runs poorly on stronger PC hardware. Crashes and framerate issues abound. If you really want to play Dead Rising 3, your best bet is to wait or pick up the Xbox One version.

  • Is there a Harry Potter fan in the audience? Maybe one with a good command of the series' bestiary? Because I think what we have here is a Boggart, reflecting back someone's subconscious fears about minorities. ...It's a cruel portrayal, and superfluous besides: in a game that's ostensibly about zombies, shouldn't the zombies be scary enough on their own?

  • Dead Rising 3 looked OK in its original form, but it was obvious that shortcuts were taken to get all of the zombies on-screen. Seeing hordes of zombies shambling around, all looking unique and detailed as you mow through them with your chainsaw is an experience not offered by other games, so the sacrifices were worth it. However, the PC version should have overcome those challenges. Luckily the fun of the series is still there, and that fun is greatly enhanced on the PC version if you can get it running well.

  • Dead Rising 3 was, until recently, an Xbox One ‘exclusive’, and it’s pretty clear that PC wasn’t the primary development platform. This isn't one of Capcom's best ports. It’s a system hog, and you’ll need a substantial PC to run it on high settings. ...But if you have the horsepower, Dead Rising 3 is a riotous, imaginative, and brilliantly silly game.

  • Dead Rising 3: Apocalypse Edition is a beefy port of a great Xbox One game and its decent post-release content. ...While the story doesn’t do anything we haven’t seen before, it still contains a strong cast of characters with a couple of interesting twists. If you’re a PC gamer who missed out on Dead Rising 3 last year, then the Apocalypse Edition will help fill that zombie slaying void in your heart.

  • Fans of the franchise might be bummed Dead Rising 3 is an exclusive to the Xbox One, but early adopters of Microsoft’s new system have an impressive title in library. Dead Rising 3 not only shows off the Xbox One’s power, but also happens to be a solid zombie survival game to boot. With it’s vast open-world, seemingly endless weapon combo system and New Game+, there’s virtually no end to the fun you’ll have trying to survive in a world overrun with the undead.

  • Dead Rising 3 isn’t the best launch game on the Xbox One but it has easily made a great case for itself as one that should seriously be considered. Sure, there is nothing incredibly original about the game but the sheer size and magnitude of this zombie outbreak is undeniably impressive and certainly gives us a glimpse of what we can expect from these next generation consoles.
