- Cyanide & Happiness – Freakpocalypse is a game that relies on its humor to finish out strong. Episode 1’s story falls short with nothing exciting to latch onto. Fans of Cyanide and Happiness will most likely appreciate the title for what it’s for but the same can not be guaranteed for newcomers.
Varno Harris · Nov 17, 2021 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - The trailer for this game shows a lot of content, that is actually not in this game, which was also not mentioned or marketed as being only the first part of a trilogy. While we enjoyed the experience, we would recommend not buying it for its current asking price and hope a cheap bundle is released when all parts are finished.
Ibuki · Apr 04, 2021 Reviewed on PCRead full review - While I can’t say I’m invested in Coop’s tired journey through his senior year in high school, I may be enticed enough to take the next episodes for a spin. But that would only be the case if the second half of Freakpocalypse maintains its quality in my memory. For all I know, I was lulled into a stupor or a kind of Stockholm Syndrome. One of the costs of reviewing for a site like RPGFan is that we try to finish every single game we review, and this one put me to the test.
Bob Richardson · Mar 28, 2021 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Cyanide & Happiness – Freakpocalypse is a bit of a tough one to recommend if you’re not familiar with the webcomic. People who like casual games and dark, immature humor might enjoy this, but Freakpocalypse was truly designed with the fans in mind. It’s also worth noting that this isn’t a complete game, but rather the first installment in a trilogy.
Heidi Hawes · Mar 25, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - The writing has its fair share of material that’s worth a few sharp exhales through the nose and sensible chuckling but the committed delivery of the cast is a nice surprise and adds value. If you’re a fan of the Explosm! webcomic series and shorts, then Freakpocalypse is bound to hold a measure of interest. Just don’t go in expecting too much.
Allen · Mar 24, 2021 Reviewed on PC - Cyanide & Happiness: Freakpocalypse isn’t going to blow you away. It’s certainly not going to have you reaching for the medicine cabinet, though. I suppose much of what you get out of CH: F will depend on your ability to take a joke. The gameplay won’t be what keeps you coming back, but Coop’s story has much left to be told, and I’ll be there for the sequel.
Rhett Waselenchuk · Mar 22, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Cyanide & Happiness Freakpocalypse is a point-and-click adventure with all the great comedy one comes to expect from the comics and animations. The story is great and there are many hidden funny gems to discover and unlock. With great voice acting and dialogue, this is a great opening to what is bound to be a fun trilogy.
Ralph Whitmore · Mar 19, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - You never feel like you’re moving smoothly through the story. Just going over a road with almost endless speed bumps – bumps that occasionally raise a laugh, but there’s a growing frustration as you struggle to make any real progress.
Maria Alexander · Mar 15, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - It breathes life into the genre once again through its satire tinted lens on the world. If any gamers love humour that ranges from dark to gross with everything in between, then Freakpocalypse is poised to deliver.
Camrin Santchi · Mar 15, 2021 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Thankfully, as an old fan of the series I actually did get quite a kick out of Cyanide and Happiness: Freakpocalypse. Its short length is disappointing, but the fact that I found myself wanting more from the game is probably a good sign of things to come.
