- Curved Space is described as arcade-style anyways, so I don’t understand why the devs thought the story was needed at all. If they focused on polishing a mode that players can have some mindless fun, Curved Space could be leaps and bounds better. There’s a reason why rogue-lites have been finding so much success in the indie sphere: gameplay-first designs that just feel nice to play.
Tony Bae · Jul 11, 2021 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Curved Space tries new things in the twin-stick genre. I appreciate the attempt, but most of those new things don’t work out. Playing it is often uncomfortable, and too many of its weapons are duds. At times the fast-paced shooting can be enjoyable, but even that is too often broken up by pacing issues. I’m all for destroying spiders, but I’d rather do so without feeling sick to my stomach.

If you do find the action too disorientating like me, there are also comfort option in the menu, from performance to comfort and maximum comfort choices. I still couldn’t quite get one that I gelled with, but it’s also possible to fine tune your own custom settings which is a great shout by Maximum Games.
Jamie Collyer · Jul 03, 2021 Reviewed on Series X|S, XB1Read full review - As it stands, Curved Space is a pretty good arcade shooter that manages to stand out even though it suffers from an annoying amount of feature creep. It didn’t need to feature such an emphasis on storytelling, nor did it need to have so many gameplay elements that are only used when an objective tells you to do so.
Leo Faria · Jul 01, 2021 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - Curved Space has a really compelling and sometimes weird array of weapons to help players do just that. They will find the usual blasters, shotguns, and rockets. But among all of those, the ‘Scorpion” which is literally a laser-y blue version of a scorpion’s tail that one can poke their enemy’s with.
Terrence Johnson · Jun 30, 2021 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - Despite its strong first impressions, Curved Space lacks the true variety to stand out in the crowd. You will find plenty to enjoy over the span of its brief runtime, but it isn't substantial enough to warrant a replay. Only diehard genre fans need apply.
Blake Grundman · Jun 29, 2021 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Curved Space will do enough to hold your attention for a while. Its unique features don’t amount to much, however, leaving you with a rather mundane entry into an already crowded genre. Simply put, there are much better arcade shooters out there to spend your time and money on.
Kim Snaith · Jun 29, 2021 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - In a genre where many feel that they've seen it all, Curved Space succeeds in providing something new. The titular curves may not be a huge innovation, but the game borrows enough from its procedural cousins to make its shooting feel refreshing.
Alex Santa Maria · Jun 29, 2021 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - A fantastic looking game with a banging soundtrack, but not one that will keep you occupied for too long. Gameplay is far from bad, but it’s not up to the same standard as the graphics and audio sadly. Curved Space is a slickly presented but sadly average title.
Gary “Dominoid” Sheppard · Sep 29, 2021 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - When it comes to Curved Space then, I’m afraid this ain’t it, chief. This is far from the shot in the arm that the genre needs. Its pointless story, repetitive game modes, uninteresting combat, and poorly-implemented gimmick keep it from escaping that enormous pit of mediocre shoot ‘em ups. On the bright side, it’s always nice to be reminded that real life spiders could be so much worse.
