  • Cuphead is one of a kind. Luckily, this one of a kind game is now available on all current gen consoles. Not that that means much for much longer. With more content coming eventually as well, it couldn’t be a better time to get into such a unique game. Cuphead is brutally difficult and incredibly rewarding to play, and plays very smoothly on PS4.

  • While there is absolutely no reason to double dip if you already own Cuphead on another platform, PS4 only owners that have been missing out will find this to be a game that they must purchase.

  • Cuphead perfectly balances it’s simple nature, difficult mechanics, and audiovisual style for a game that’s rather unmatched. It’s a work of creative genius that allows the player to feel a sense of accomplishment through learning to overcome tough boss mechanics, and the cartoon visuals and big personalities of each keep them entertaining throughout repeated play.

  • Cuphead might be a tough cookie, but it charms with superlative art and music. For every time you might be frustrated by a tough section, you'll be delighted by some wonderful animation or new attack. It isn't perfect; the Run and Gun levels don't live up to the bosses, and a lack of feedback can make fights feel futile. Overall, though, the game succeeds in what it sets out to do -- just be prepared for a real challenge.

  • Cuphead is the kind of game that you only need to play for 10-minutes to realise the attention to detail Studio MDHR has poured into it. It looks incredible, sounds wonderful and is a pleasure to play… then the difficulty kicks in and it turns you into a quivering mess. It’s a game that can evoke frustration one minute and pure elation the next.

  • Cuphead makes the transition to Switch perfectly, matching up to the Xbox and PC counterparts with no compromise. If you liked Cuphead before, you will like it on the Switch. If not, then it’s still not for you. For newcomers however, it’s well worth checking out. Just be aware though, it’s a tough one.

  • It may be two years old at this point, but that doesn’t change how good of a game it is. Studio MDHR worked themselves to the bone to make this dream a reality since the reveal back in 2014 when it was first teased and to see it not only be successful but to flourish is a heartwarming story in this massive industry. We definitely haven’t seen the last of this plucky pair, as DLC is on the way, but for the time being Cuphead will take you a bit of time to finish.

  • Everything about Cuphead just feels right, even all these months after its original release. As it stands right now, this game is nearly flawless in its own right, thanks to its responsive controls and signature style. That doesn’t mean it’s going to be for everyone, especially those who don’t want to or can’t get over its sometimes oppressive difficulty. But those who are determined to get through Cuphead will see that it simply spills over with joy.

  • Cuphead is a creative masterpiece and a game that rightly deserves to be long remembered as an all-time great. It delivers a riotous gameplay experience that will delight, astound, and frustrate in equal parts, woven into a relentlessly breathtaking and meticulously crafted cartoon world. It can certainly start to feel cruel at times, especially after spending a lengthy session failing to beat one boss, but, now having the chance to play on the move with Nintendo Switch, it’s found the perfect home for players to overcome such a challenge.

  • Beautiful, bold, brutal. In all, Cuphead is a legit hardcore gem and is a wonderful reminder of how potently powerful a singular vision can be on the creative canvas we call video games. But don’t let the cartoony visuals lure you into a false sense of security; Studio MDHR has crafted something devilishly ruthless here. Only the hardcore need apply.
