Critic Reviews
- While it won’t win any innovation awards as far as gameplay is concerned, Cryptract is a well-made SRPG with a fair free-to-play system that allows you to cruise along without having to empty your pockets.
Jane Young · Feb 10, 2020 Reviewed on iOS, AndRead full review - Cryptract isn’t particularly original, but it’s a well-constructed SRPG with a fair gacha system and tons of content. But it’s the game’s strong sense of narrative momentum that distinguishes it from its genre stablemates.
Glenn Wilson · Feb 10, 2020 Reviewed on iOS, AndRead full review - Cryptract is a polished, well-structured, content-packed SRPG that will keep fans busy for weeks. It lacks originality, but makes up for that to some extent with narrative flair.
Luciano · Feb 10, 2020 Reviewed on iOS, AndRead full review - There are plenty of gacha-powered fantasy RPGs to choose from, and in gameplay terms it can be hard to tell them apart. Cryptract makes an effort with a strong sense of narrative and exceptional localization. It’s a well-balanced RPG, too, thanks no doubt to its years of playtesting in Japan. If you’re on the lookout for a new gacha RPG, Cryptract is a solid prospect. It may look modest, but it’s polished in the right ways.
Brent Dirks · Feb 10, 2020 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - The text is superbly localized, with none of the language errors that blight many of the RPGs that are brought to the West, and the narrative is genuinely engaging. Written in second person, it fleshes out the characters around you, and provides motivation going into battles. The side missions, which could so easily have been reduced to more cut and paste scraps, are brought to life by the stories that underpin them.
