- I’d like to end this review on a high note, by ending on a high note. Taking into consideration what I’ve played of the game, and assuming that its lingering issue is going to get patched, Croixleur Sigma really is a great little game. While it doesn’t have much going on in terms of actual depth of content, what it does have is a lot of fun. If you’re looking for a cute and challenging way to have some arcade-like fun, and don’t mind having your reflexes and ability to remain calm put to the test, then this game might be worth your time. $19.99 might be a little steep, but you could still do a lot worse than a game like Croixleur Sigma.
Kenny McKee · Mar 28, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Croixleur Sigma is a fantastic addition to the Vita's library offering addictive hack-n-slash gameplay with stunning graphics and accessible gameplay all bundled into a very generously priced package, it's definitely worth a look if you're looking for something unique from the genre.
Liam Langan · Mar 18, 2016 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - Croixleur Sigma is an enjoyable -- and cheap! -- game particularly suited to having in your Steam library for when you have a few minutes to spare and just want to hack a few things to pieces. Its quick play sessions and straightforward mechanics make it a simple game to pick up but, as the old saying goes, a hard one to master -- and there's enough depth there for hardcore score-chasers to while away hours at a time.
Pete Davison · May 12, 2014 Reviewed on PC - You can tackle story mode with four different characters, each with unique weapons and endings, or try out Score Attack or Survival Mode. Also available is Challenge mode, a set of discrete challenge rooms with a specific theme, e.g. "defeat the large monster before time runs out." Then there's Dungeon mode, a gruelling journey through 50 levels of increasingly-difficult scenarios, that's unfortunately unplayable on Switch. Only by completing Sara-Annika's Story Mode can players unlock Dungeon mode. Sadly, upon finishing it, the dreaded message "the software was closed because an error occurred" pops up, and nothing is saved (again, Playism has promised a patch to fix this).
Evan Norris · Mar 29, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - It is a title worth getting if you can accept that it will not last long. However, if you're looking for more bang for your buck, there are far better titles out there.
André Eriksson · May 18, 2016 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Croixleur Sigma can be entertaining when you're gunning for a high score or if you're in the mood for some relentless action, but there just isn't enough reason to keep coming back once you've sampled each mode and discovered a few favourite weapons. It's an arcade hack and slasher with a colourful, inviting exterior, but much like a bag of Haribo, it's best enjoyed in short bursts – stay too long and you'll soon get sick.
Robert Ramsey · Jan 23, 2016 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - With almost all hack ‘n’ slash titles, what you see is largely what you get in Croixleur Sigma. Depth isn’t normally the genre’s strong suit but that said, some form of story - one not completely devoid of personality or entirely too reliant on the cheap tricks showcased here - surely isn’t too much to ask for. For all Croixleur Sigma can be quite challenging - particularly towards its Story Mode’s end or within Challenge Mode - no real skill is needed to succeed, and it’s lack of variety and intrigue make this feel like a wasted journey west.
