- Crackdown 3 is exactly what I wanted. That is most glowing praise I can give it. I loved the original game, I really despised the second one, and this entry brings me back to what made that original so special. It never attempts to stray from being the big stupid sandbox it sets out to be. While not pushing the series further it does great at respecting the source material. For those that have Gamepass this is a treat. Download it and play it. For $60 though I feel like the price tag might be a touch much.
Ken McKown · Feb 21, 2019 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - All in all, Crackdown 3 could have been better but it seems that developers didn’t really care to make it more challenging regarding the story, missions, and bosses. But this is clear right from the start so you won’t expect too much from it and be disappointed. This is an average game and how much fun you will have depends on what you expect from the game. But after Commander Jaxon says “Quack quack, motherf*ker” at the beginning, you simply know it’s going to be a fun journey.
Anna Gard · Feb 20, 2019 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Not every game needs to be eying your wallet at every turn, hopeful that you’ll pump in one more quarter. Video games need more junk food. We need more weekend flings, more unimportant guff, more nonsense. Crackdown 3 is exactly that, a forgettable romp that offers fun with no strings attached. In the coming age of streaming, I feel that we’ll see a lot more Crackdown 3s filling out those various subscriptions. That doesn’t have to be such a bad thing.
Alex Santa Maria · Feb 18, 2019 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Though there are moments here that’ll bring a smile to your face, Crackdown 3 is crammed with ideas and game design choices that were done better over a decade ago. Just play the original game and wash your hands of this version.
Ashley Bates · Feb 18, 2019 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Crackdown 3 is a relic of the past, it revels in its simplistic design, freedom of choice, and a time when gameplay was the focus over an emotional cinematic narrative driven story. It is a Crackdown game through and through and if you’re a big fan of Crackdown then that is exactly what you’re getting. However, things change, games evolve, and certain things are advanced upon because of new ideas and technology. Crackdown 3, while advancing upon the first in some ways, completely ignores the last twelve years of gaming evolution. Everything in Crackdown 3 has been done before, and in most cases, been done better. That doesn’t mean it is not fun, if you’re looking for the Expendables of the video game world then Crackdown 3 may give you some stupid fun. Just don’t expect anything mind blowing even with the aforementioned cloud powered destruction in the multiplayer.
Jordan Hawes · Feb 18, 2019 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Crackdown 3 is a tedious experience with very little stand out moments. Repetitive missions and the oversaturation of collectables make up a large portion of the game. The only saving grace for the campaign is the somewhat entertaining boss fights. The multiplayer is a frustrating trainwreck due to the lock-on system and the ability to see enemy players through walls. Crackdown 3 would be considered barely mediocre but even average modern games excel beyond this title.
Grayshadow · Feb 17, 2019 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Leaping high through the air across rooftops and collecting orbs--which still feature one of the all-time great sound effects--is fun and rewarding, because that pursuit has a direct correlation to further improving your jump height. Lifting large objects and chucking them at foes is likewise an entertaining alternative to typical gunfights. Just like in its predecessors, these two superpowers are the primary source of what entertainment there is to be had in Crackdown 3.
Chris Pereira · Feb 16, 2019 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Crackdown 3 is a weird one to review, because it feels distinctly out of date. The delays and changes in direction have resulted in a modern game with design sensibilities that feel over a decade old, but they hold up incredibly well. While not a long campaign, the time I spent with Crackdown 3 was a lot of fun and it's an easy recommendation to fans of the original. Just make sure to play as Terry Crews to improve the experience.
Dave Aubrey · Feb 16, 2019 Reviewed onRead full review - Overall, Crackdown 3 feels like an Xbox 360 title running in 4K. In small doses, the action’s a lot of fun. I love jumping around the city and blowing stuff up, but I can’t imagine this is the follow-up fans deserve. I hate to say it, but Crackdown 3 would more than likely pale in comparison to other open world games released over a decade ago like Infamous, Prototype, and Borderlands.
Garrett Drake · Feb 16, 2019 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Crackdown 3 isn't sardonic like GTA V, it's not immersive like Red Dead Redemption 2, it's not whimsical like Breath of the Wild, and it doesn't go buck-wild like Saints Row 4. I stare at the pantheon of great open-world games and wonder, why does Crackdown 3 exist? It's not bad. It's an OK game that could've been exciting a decade ago, but comes off today like a shrug carried only by the energy of Terry Crews.
