- Despite the strong story and its interesting characters, the gameplay is very clearly of a game out of time, and so feels out of place on the Switch. It’s difficult to recommend, especially to newcomers, but fans of the franchise may find good reasons to visit, even if for nostalgia alone.
Morgan Truder · Nov 23, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - As sad as I am to say that Corpse Party: Blood Drive doesn’t end with quite the fervor that I’ve come to expect from the series at this point, I absolutely would not count it out. Sure, the gameplay itself leaves a bit to be desired, but the story—you know, the thing that really matters in a game like this—should be more than enough to draw in pre-existing fans. The first saga of the Corpse Party series may be over, but if the games so far are anything to go by, Corpse Party still has a very bright future ahead of itself.
Kenny McKee · Oct 27, 2019 Reviewed on PCRead full review - The game also handles just fine on PC as the controls easily map to a keyboard. Using the “WASD” keys to move in a 3D space is slightly less precise than an analog stick, so players might run into a few traps if they aren’t moving cautiously, but it isn’t much of an issue once a player gets used to the control scheme. Overall, it’s an excellent port for a game that wasn’t designed with PC in mind when it was originally developed.
Tyler Treese · Oct 15, 2019 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Corpse Party: Blood Drive had the makings of being one of the all time greats for the PS Vita but technical problems prevent the game from achieving that goal. But if you can look past the problems, there's a fantastic story that's there for long time Corpse Party fans.
lateralus2801 · Nov 18, 2015 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - There were also the inclusion of EX chapters that filled in gaps in the story, and while short, its existence served the story and characters well. While not exactly the swan song to send this tragedy off to the ever after in satisfaction, fans that have kept up with this cult favorite will be pleased to see how it all plays out.
Jae Lee · Oct 29, 2015 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - While the technical issues and underwhelming plot points bring it down, Corpse Party: Blood Drive is still a welcome addition to the franchise and an acceptable end to the Heavenly Host storyline. Longtime fans won't want to skip this.
David Kreinberg · Oct 29, 2015 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - Corpse Party 2 may be on the horizon, but the conclusion of the original trilogy is here first. The puzzle-based exploration can be fun and the series’ signature horror themes are ever present here, but the clashing character design choices and other questionable decisions keep Corpse Party: Blood Drive from being an entirely bloody good time.
Dean James · Oct 26, 2015 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - Blood Drive marks a largely transitional time in the series, and despite its minor flaws, still manages to be a shining example for the genre and provides a satisfying end to the “Heavenly Host” saga that has endured for decades. I look forward to playing Corpse Party: Dead Patient once the remaining episodes are released and translated. But until then, you’ll have to excuse me, I have some… Candy to dispose of.
Ryan Lutes · Oct 25, 2015 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - As a farewell to the characters and settings of the original Corpse Party, Corpse Party: Blood Drive is a flawed, frustrating adventure that strays too far from what made its predecessor so beloved. And yet, at times, it still shows signs of brilliance—enough that at least hardcore fans of the franchise can find joy amongst the relentless torture.
Mollie L Patterson · Oct 23, 2015 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - If you’ve played previous entries in the series and want to see where the story goes, then Corpse Party: Blood Drive will be a worthy purchase. It’s just a shame that the actual gameplay ends up being underwhelming, and the art style prevents anything from being frightening. Blood Drive could’ve been something special, but a general lack of polish really hurts the overall quality of the product. Existing fans will still have a good time, just be ready to see the same load screen hundreds of times.
