- If you go into this game expecting horror and mind-blowing puzzles, you’ll be disappointed. However, the storyline and the artwork justifies the purpose of the game, especially if you actually understand the story *cough* unlike me *cough*. If anything, I’ll at least be picking up a Lovecraft book from my local library so I can fake it better next time.
Lauren Regenhardt · Mar 25, 2021 Reviewed on Switch - The Switch port is solid enough however, with loading times a little long at times but the game running at a decent lick consistently. It’s not recommended playing this handheld though due to the large amount of on-screen text you have to read – so Lite owners beware.
Maria Alexander · Feb 11, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - While there have been a lot of Lovecraft-inspired games in recent years, most of them simply ram Cthulhu in an unrelated title and call it a day. Conarium, however, stays true to the spirit of Lovecraft’s writings and to At the Mountains of Madness in particular. The game is a tad too short for its price point, but if you can get past that, you’ll find that there is a lot to like here. If you’re a fan of Lovecraftian horror, then you owe it to yourself to play Conarium.
SebastiaanRaats · Feb 06, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Conarium is an enjoyable first-person adventure game featuring a very nice atmosphere, an interesting story featuring core themes from Lovecraft's works and unusual spin on game progression reminiscent of Metroidvania games. The game, however, does very little outside the usual for the genre, so if you're not into Lovecraft-inspired games there isn't anything unique that Conarium can offer you.
Francesco De Meo · Mar 11, 2019 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - The way that the game captures the otherworldly vibe of Lovecraft’s work, and develops such an engaging story quickly, is something to applaud. Ignoring the poor voice acting, bad character models, and the odd frustrating puzzle, if you’re looking for a disturbing, plot focused walking sim experience, or you’re just a huge Lovecraft fan, you won’t go far wrong here.
Nat Eker · Feb 13, 2019 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - In short, Conarium’s setting is strong. The Antarctic base and the caverns beneath are beautifully realized. But, everything that Conarium attempts to say or tasks the player with doing in that setting falls short. It’s a shame, because the opening hours pump fake in the direction of the game Conarium could have been. When looking back at my time with the game, I don’t feel horror at its revelations. I feel disappointment in light of what it could have been concealing, and simply wasn’t.
Andrew King · Feb 13, 2019 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Conarium is certainly one for the fans of H.P. Lovecraft, despite the fact that it’s less of a traditional horror, and more of a puzzler with elements of suspense present. That said, the game does a wonderful job at presenting a dark and eerie story that follows in the footsteps of its source material, complete with a great setting and several nods to its inspirations. Unfortunately, however, its slow pace and its short length holds it back quite a bit.
Jamie Baldock · Feb 12, 2019 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - A single playthrough of Conarium will take just under five hours unless you find yourself well and truly stuck on one of the game’s many puzzles. After that, there’s not much reason to go back unless you want to find all the collectables the game offers. There are multiple endings, too, but the game’s chapter system makes it very easy to get both without any hassle.
Richard Seagrave · Feb 12, 2019 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Conarium is a game so rooted in its desire to tell a story inspired by a great author that it feels more like an interactive novel than a game itself. The narrative, atmosphere, and graphics have proven to be particularly superb; however, the poor voice acting and lack of significant interactive content root this game firmly as a walking-sim above a full horror experience.
Alexander Thomas · Feb 11, 2019 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Conarium’s story is a fine addition to the Lovecraft universe, but doesn’t make for a compelling gaming experience, so only the acclaimed horror author’s devotees will likely find much of interest.

About the game
Trailers & Screenshots:
Conarium is a chilling Lovecraftian game, which follows a gripping story involving four scientists and their endeavor to challenge what we normally consider to be the ‘absolute’ limits of nature. Inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s novella "At the Mountains of Madness", but largely set after the original story.
