- Coffee Talk Episode 2: Hibiscus & Butterfly is a refreshing visual novel filled with relatable characters and amazing intertwining stories. The controls are simple, with fun, minimal gameplay. The music and sound effects fit in well with the coffee shop ambiance.
Rachel Poli · May 25, 2023 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Overall, Hibiscus & Butterfly feels like more of the same, but given how good ‘the same’ is, that’s not a bad thing. The new item mechanic doesn’t quite hit the mark, and the lack of an overarching narrative makes for a less cohesive experience compared to the first game, but the individual stories more than make up for this.
SebastiaanRaats · May 05, 2023 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Coffee Talk Episode 2 is a relaxing, and absorbing title with an engaging gameplay loop, memorable characters, and excellent writing. It's a great game to play when you to unwind, and immerse yourself in a cozy well realized world with a cast of characters that will stay with you after you've finished your cup of hot brew.
Rizwan Anwer · Apr 28, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - The warm drinks you brew are as warm and satisfying as the atmosphere this game induces. Coffee Talk Episode 2 continues to be a relaxing and enjoyable drink-making game, while also having intriguing stories and interesting characters.
ANYKA PETTIGREW · Apr 26, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Coffee Talk Episode 2: Hibiscus & Butterfly may not change much from the first game, but that’s because it doesn’t have to. Perfection was already achieved the first cup around — the second cup tastes just as good. With that being said, the new faces and teas bring a unique flavor to the table, and we’re all the richer for their inclusion.
Heather Johnson Yu · Apr 25, 2023 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Coffee Talk Episode 2 is as easy as you’d like but has space for you to master the fine art of being a top-tier barista in a busy bustling café. The addition of Hibiscus And Butterfly Pea brings a classiness and a radiance that will lighten your day, and there are reasons to replay the story several times through to see everything it has to show for itself. There’s still plenty of room for Coffee Talk to grow and flourish, but this sequel is well-worth diving into if you just want to take a pew, grab an eye-opener and relish in a bevvy of stories.
James Davie · Apr 25, 2023 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - Coffee Talk Episode 2: Hibiscus & Butterfly is a mellow experience with an intriguing world. The actual quality of the coffee in story mode is not that important because the main attraction is the various character narratives and the bigger subjects they touch on.
Andrei Dumitrescu · Apr 21, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Coffee Talk Episode 2 captures the essence of what it’s like to chat with friends at a late-night café over a warm cup. Not a whole lot has changed between episodes, which is a good thing for returning players looking for the same heartfelt storytelling and diverse characters from the first installment.
Larryn Bell · Apr 19, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Coffee Talk Episode 2: Hibiscus & Butterfly refuses to fix what isn’t broken, and it adds a few new mechanics that freshen up the gameplay just enough. While elements of its narrative aren’t quite as strong as those of the first Coffee Talk, it remains an incredibly chill and peaceful experience, and I’d gladly play through as many episodes as the developers choose to bless us with.
Jordan Rudek · Apr 19, 2023 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - The storytelling is pitch-perfect, the gameplay elements are improved and given more air to breathe, and the home it provides is warm. Toge Productions have outdone themselves here in providing a place you can recognize and envelop yourself in, and whether this world continues or not, the fact you can be a part of Coffee Talk at all is an everlasting gift that makes me eternally thankful.
