- Chorus can be an entertaining space combat adventure at times, but the mediocre moments take a considerble toll.
Daniel Tack · Jan 13, 2022 Reviewed on PC - Chorus winds up being very open-ended, and players may have a greatly altered experience. How one builds and modifies the Forsaken will play a big part in how the game feels. It could be an exploration game where one traverses the stars, an intense aerial dog fight against fast but weak ships, or a slow war of attrition as durable crafts exchange potshots. However, when it comes to story focused mission, players may need to completely change their loadout and playstyle to deal with the current objective.
Fragnarok · Dec 29, 2021 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Chorus is a beautifully crafted title that serves as a showcase for a small developer who have stuck to their guns with their chosen craft. Well rounded, brilliantly designed and engaging, it’s a space shooter with a lot of heart and soul that keeps you on your toes and eager for more. If you’re a fan of the legends in this field or even new to it, this serves as a new standard in the genre.
Hylton Goodwin · Dec 17, 2021 Reviewed onRead full review - Chorus is a very solid game where the pluses outweigh the negatives. One negative might be that the boss fights seem to be overly difficult with some of the later ones dragging on a bit too long. The flight model is smooth in nature and might take a bit of finesse to master. Overall, Chorus is a very well-done game, and we would recommend it.
Howie Howard · Dec 13, 2021 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Chorus is a great game that just doesn’t quite meet its full potential. The amazing story setup doesn’t manage to hit the mark, with lacklustre characters and underwhelming emotional moments. One the other hand, the combat is definitely worth getting into, with some fantastically smooth controls once you get used to them.
Kyle Nicol · Dec 07, 2021 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Chorus does an excellent job of cutting out the dull parts of space dogfighting, getting right to the flashy fun of blasting through enemy fighters and capital ships with superpowered abilities. Its large and pretty map is filled with fleshed-out side quests, and they’re varied enough that it’s easy to cruise around for a few dozen hours and really get the hang of the combat system.
Dan Stapleton · Dec 04, 2021 Reviewed onRead full review - Taking the gameplay elements found in a typical 3D action RPG and applying them to a space flight game works tremendously well. Flying around the levels is a blast, the combat is enjoyable, and the story is more substantial than I expected, which was good and bad, as sometimes I wished the characters would shut up so I could get back into the action. If playing a space-combat shooter with an action RPG structure sounds at all interesting then you should consider checking out Chorus.
Jake Plant · Dec 04, 2021 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Chorus is one of the biggest surprises of the year. With a great story, excellent world-building, tight movement, thrilling combat, and rewarding progression, this is one of the most enjoyable space shooters I've played in quite some time.
Shubhankar Parijat · Dec 04, 2021 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - Although the basic storyline may be largely nonsensical, you'll come across a nice selection of characters to assist on your travels, all of whom are fully voice acted with their own minor backstories. Nara and Forsaken often exchange pleasantries, but their conversations can sometimes come across a bit clinical, and would have benefited greatly from a bit of added humour.
Ollie Reynolds · Dec 04, 2021 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - I’m not sure many players will be willing to dig beyond its myriad technical issues and more frustrating moments to find it. And honestly, that’s a real shame. Because with a bit more polish and refinement, Fishlabs’ latest offering could have been a space opera to remember with its unique story and exciting blend of sci-fi action and creepy occult mysticism.
