Critic Reviews
- Chernobylite is still a great game, and it actually matters little on what platform you’re getting the game. Of course, if you have a good gaming PC or a next-gen console at your disposal, picking up the more powerful version is always recommended. If not, you’re still getting the same great experience on any platform.
Ibuki · May 13, 2022 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Chernobylite offers a gripping story, as well as a horrifying experience, and has perfectly placed you in the eyes of a man desperately seeking answers about someone he loves dearly.
Junior Onunkwo · May 07, 2022 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Chernobylite’s next-gen update is the best way to play the survival-horror game on console despite its unevenness. Aside from some animation slowdown in the loading screens, the game runs at a solid framerate, and perceivable frame dips were nonexistent in my playtime examining the upgrade.
Jonathan Moore · May 04, 2022 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Despite this occasional lapse, Chernobylite manages to stand out with a brace of compelling mechanics, elements of horror, and some deft storytelling. Don't ignore this one.
Stuart Gipp · Apr 28, 2022 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Chernobylite can be very enjoyable for players that want to take on the role of team leader and savior. While exploration will be important at first, as the base grows in size players will be spending much of their schedule staying behind, sorting supplies, and simply manning the fort. Players that instead want a deep combat focused game will not find it here.
Fragnarok · Apr 26, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Chernobylite isn’t a perfect game. Aside from the continuity issues and the horror that falls flat, there were a couple of game crashes too. However, the game has plenty more positives, including impressive decision-making, the amount of freedom with base building, and simple but satisfying team management. Chernobylite is well worth dipping into for a few hours as long as you remember the game is not meant to be a AAA experience.
Rebecca Smith · Apr 25, 2022 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Chernobylite is a fascinating survival horror RPG that serves up an enthralling and impressively detailed exclusion zone for players to run a series of dangerous raids in. There may be a few too many gameplay elements chucked into the mix here but strong writing, well designed missions, great support characters and some incredible visual and audio work smooth over most of the rough patches.
PJ O'Reilly · Apr 25, 2022 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - It might seem that I have a lot to complain about (and I do), but perhaps these are all issues that are minor to people who are familiar with the genre. So, this might actually be from the perspective of someone who isn’t completely new to the genre, but is completely new to eurojank—take it with a grain of salt depending on your level of experience with the genre.
Jesse Norris · Apr 21, 2022 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - Chernobylite is best when it’s focusing on its characters, but I am not sure even that would make this adventure worthwhile.
Casey David Muir-Taylor · Apr 21, 2022 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - All in all, Chernobylite is a great game that offers a lot and makes you do a lot to enjoy it, but fans who enjoy a challenging experience and revel in immersing themselves in a world similar to that of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. will find themselves right at home.
