- We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: Bravely Default II is an absolute marvel within the JRPG genre. If you’ve ever had the slightest thought that you might want to take a dive into games such as this, Bravely Default II would be the perfect place to start.
Jessica · Oct 01, 2021 Reviewed on PCRead full review - I spent 90+ hrs maxing out all characters and learned every ability for every job, and even with a exp/money farming technique to speed up the process, I simply felt like I was required to do too much while not being fully rewarded with a story and reason that meant very little.
Baylen Marston · Aug 31, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Bravely Default II is a tightly-designed and well-written Japanese RPG with gameplay ideas rooted in the 1990s, but lacks the polish and amenities expected of a Square Enix RPG of the 2020s.
Michael Sollosi · Apr 24, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - It's aggressively grind-heavy and repetitive in precisely the ways that the games that inspired it often were. The battles are not interesting enough to make the leveling process anything but a necessary evil for those hoping to keep pace with the game's challenges.
Jamie Lovett · Apr 12, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Bravely Default II can get frustrating at times, but it more than makes up for that by being endlessly charming and endearing, and remains a joy to play through from start to finish.
Zhiqing Wan · Apr 02, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Despite falling a bit short in the story and characters department compared to its predecessors, Bravely Default 2’s satisfying combat encounters, deep job customization and stellar soundtrack makes it a worthy comeback for this fan favorite series.
Jae Lee · Mar 30, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Bravely Default II is a pleasant throwback to an era when JRPGs weren’t all trying to be action games. Its turn-based combat continues to excite, despite not evolving all that much since its predecessor launched over eight years ago. The story is too nostalgic for its own good – relying heavily on well-worn clichés and plot twists any JRPG enthusiast will recognize – but it’s competent enough to not drag the entire experience down.
Brandon Adams · Mar 24, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - What you don’t expect is for the game to feel like it’s just going through the motions with its story, for the central class system to not feel worthwhile, and for the battle system’s main claim to fame being you get to skip your turn to go later. Turns out Defaulting on this one is the right move.
Brian · Mar 23, 2021 Reviewed on Switch - For fans of role-playing games, especially JRPGS, this game will come as a breath of classic RPG air. Turn-based battles with a twist, an intricate and intersectional job system, and a ragtag group of heroes are all key components that make the experience memorable.
Adrian Iglesias · Mar 20, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - What’s here works and is fun, but they can’t just rest on their laurels. I think they’ve shown they’re talented, but that’s not enough. They need to keep improving and evolving to keep their audience satisfied. Here’s hoping that if we get another game in the series, it’s something that truly blows our socks off.
