- At the end of the day, Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is a great game but I'll admit that I enjoyed looking and listening to the game far more than I did playing it. Like Jet Set Radio, Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is all style, no substance, but that style is REALLY GOOD AND I CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF IT!!! If you’re like me and all you wanted was Jet Set Radio but with better modern controls, then you’ll adore Bomb Rush Cyberfunk.
Jake Mounsey · Sep 27, 2023 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Bomb Rush Cyberfunk was created by people who obviously have the same love for Smitebit's quirky classics as I do. It's a huge homage to Jet Set Radio and Jet Set Radio Future, and if you liked those two games, Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is a must-have. And if you liked the Jet Set Radio concept but couldn't quite stand its gameplay - then I still think this is for you.
Jonas Mäki · Sep 26, 2023 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - All the pieces come together in the end: the design, the story, and the gameplay. Despite brief hurdles with the combat sections this is one of my favorite games of 2023. I actually hope Team Reptile makes a sequel that fixes the combat and maybe changes up how bikes, boards, and skates play a bit because this game was so much fun to play. I went from having no interest in this game to being absolutely enveloped by it. I bought it for a friend. Forget Jet Set, go Bomb Rush.
Anthony Mann · Sep 21, 2023 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is both an excellent unofficial sequel to the classic Jet Set Radio games and a smart evolution and modernization of the formula to better fit modern sensitivities and to offer more variety. Sure, the story could have been better and maybe Team Reptile could have swayed farther from Jet Set Radio… but this is exactly the game fans of the franchise want and deserve.
Győző Baki · Sep 21, 2023 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is no doubt a worthy successor to Jet Set Radio. That’s not to say the game is perfect; there are some notable issues, such as falling through the floor on occasion, as well as the aforementioned poor combat sections. But those issues don’t detract from this still being one of the most fun games released this year.
Brett Posner-Ferdman · Sep 11, 2023 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - More than just a trip down memory lane, Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is a fantastic videogame: a cultural reawakening that celebrates the optimism and innovation of an era that straddled the line between the analog past and the digital future.
Funké Joseph · Sep 07, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is the kind of game I’ve been waiting to play for two decades. Jet Set Radio Future was a truly formative game for me, and I’ve been waiting for years to play something that truly gets what made it work. While I typically find an attachment to nostalgia to be damaging to any work of art, Team Reptile has not let it bog them down. This is one of the freshest games you’ll play all year, and with its quality of life improvements and new modern flair, I think it has surpassed the games it was inspired by.
Cullen Black · Sep 06, 2023 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Overall, I definitely enjoyed my time with Bomb Rush Cyberfunk. In gameplay terms, it’s a more-than-worthy successor to Jet Set Radio and Future. It feels very familiar, just as fun, and advances the formula in a few key areas. It’s just a shame that it’s a downgrade in almost every single other area.
Glen Fox · Sep 06, 2023 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Bomb Rush Cyberfunk may come across as nostalgia bait and falter with the tagging, combat and difficulty. However, as a homage to Jet Set Radio, it succeeds while offering some neat little twists.
Ravi Sinha · Sep 04, 2023 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Bomb Rush Cyberfunk has a few problems, but so much soul you can’t help but love it. The simple joy of movement alone is well worth writing all over New Amsterdam, but so are the music, visuals, and story. Sure, there are bumps in the road, but they won’t stop you from going All City.
