  • Those that are up for the challenge of Bloodborne are going to find a game that plays better, looks better, and has more to keep you occupied than any of the Souls games had.

  • Bloodborne might scare off some players with its reputation as frustrating enough to destroy marriages, but if you can get past the difficulty, there is an extremely satisfying game there. Bloodborne has immensely satisfying, deep combat, an excellent, if dense story all wrapped up in a gorgeous world. While I wouldn’t go as far as to call it a system seller, if you have a PS4, you owe it to yourself to play Bloodborne.

  • Aside from the technical hiccups, Bloodborne is an experience that isn’t for the weak or impatient. You’re going to die a lot and become extremely frustrated more often than not. I can say Bloodborne is an experience that I will never forget as its combat mechanics, especially its transforming main weapons, helped me to adapt to the task at hand and I will gladly continue adventuring through in order to witness everything Bloodborne has to offer.

  • Ultimately, Bloodborne is not a game for everyone. Modern gaming has taught us that it’s ok not to pay attention and not to rely on actual skill, and those that fit in that mindset will quite possibly find this title frustrating. Yet, while it does have a few actual shortcomings, if you’re willing to embrace its challenge and ruthless fairness, Bloodborne is most probably the best game released on PS4 so far, and one of the best experiences of this generation.

  • Bloodborne is what we like to call a flawed masterpiece, yet despite its niggles, we can’t recommend it highly enough. Sure, there’s some interesting design decisions and at times, often lazy game development, but it’s a game that takes no prisoners. It holds no hands. It pulls no punches. It challenges your inner saint. It’s a beast, and one that should be tried, even if it defeats you.

  • There are very few reasons to not play Bloodborne. Do you not own a PS4? Do you get frustrated and break controllers? Do you absolutely hate adventure games? If you answered yes to any of the previous questions, then Bloodborne is not the game for you! This nightmare is challenging, scary, and easily one of the best games I’ve ever played.

  • Sometimes things will be tough; you may even swear you're done getting stomped by a cruel and uncaring game, yet you'll inevitably find yourself picking up that controller again, steeling your resolve, swearing to push through the pain to snatch that next triumphant moment of victory from the slobbering jaws of the dark beast we call Bloodborne.

  • Bloodborne really is everything we hoped for, and is the next evolution of From Software's infamously tough games. It takes everything it needs to from the Souls franchise, covers it with a delicious new Gothic horror setting, and adds in a whole new bag of tricks to produce one of the best platform exclusives I've played in a long time. The end result is a superb, and difficult action RPG that makes full use of the PS4's capabilities, and delivers a game that'll likely make Xbox One owners green with envy.

  • Bloodborne is frequently opaque, but the game's bewildering design is appealing for a reason: It's is the antitheses of the excessive tutorials and restrictive gating that are so commonplace in other games. When you do manage to decipher its lore and its cryptic rules, or manage to overcome some hard-fought challenge, it comes with the increased satisfaction that you've earned it.

  • Bloodborne is a beefy RPG to begin with, and its procedural (and optional) Chalice Dungeons offer a wealth of content on top of that. And if you reach the end, you'll definitely want to start a new game and look at those old mysteries with an educated brain. Refreshingly, Bloodborne knows what it is, and doesn't stray too far from the Souls formula—but its few alterations make for a fresh experience that will challenge even the most hardened Souls veterans. If you're looking to justify the purchase of a PS4, I can't think of a better reason.
