- Overall, the reboot of the Black Mirror series simply fails to deliver on its promises. What starts off as a game with an interesting story in the traditional Gothic horror genre doesn’t manage to reach a satisfying conclusion, particularly with the short game length of approximately four to six hours. The poorly written plot and lackluster characters are hampered by terrible game controls, atrocious camera angles, and tedious linear playthrough.
Courtney Ehrenhofler · Dec 13, 2017 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Black Mirror isn’t something I recommend you run out and buy ASAP but it might just be your thing if you’re into dark cult classics. if you can put up with glitchy puzzles and spelling errors then maybe this game is for you and you may get more enjoyment then me from it. Even though I love indie horror, this was a bit too broken to appreciate properly. Black Mirror will follow along suit with its predecessors and remain in the ‘mixed’ views of the public eye but they will have to release a patch or two to help the game achieve this.
Jamie Baldock · Dec 10, 2017 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Black Mirror is a difficult game to recommend. The story falls flat, characters are forgettable, and exploration is tedious because of poor environmental design and wonky camera angles. Despite a few clever puzzles, this emotionless journey into gothic horror left me with more questions than answers.
Elise Favis · Dec 06, 2017 Reviewed on - Fun-wise, there's not question. The game is indeed a good bit of fun -- even if it can be frustrating.
QuintLyn · Dec 01, 2017 Reviewed on PCRead full review - KING Art's take on the series was supposed to introduce it to a new generation of fans, but as things stand, it would be better for those interested in it to get the older Black Mirror games, as the reboot is marred by a variety of issues that prevent from being a memorable experience. There is a decent adventure game hidden somewhere beneath the mediocre writing, bland characters, and technical issues, but it would be better to look elsewhere to get a better experience.
Francesco De Meo · Nov 30, 2017 Reviewed on PCRead full review - We really wanted to like Black Mirror more than we did, but a few too many technical hitches put a cap on our enjoyment. This mystery is absolutely one worth solving thanks to the captivating plot and engaging characters, but be prepared to wrestle with poor controls, glitches, and frequent load times.
Liam Croft · Nov 30, 2017 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - The Black Mirror is ripe for being that classic creepy haunted manor mystery type setting, but everything surrounding its tale makes it hard to get pulled into and constantly pulls players out of the experience with its follies. This mirror is still worth looking into, but its cracks definitely show.
Justin Celani · Nov 29, 2017 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Don’t pick up the game expecting a AAA quality adventure; you’re not going to get it. But if you can overlook its tatty edges, Black Mirror comes equipped with an intriguing narrative, excellent atmosphere and solid gameplay that’ll keep you interested from start to finish. And let’s not forget those Scottish accents.
Kim Snaith · Nov 29, 2017 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Despite creating a macabre atmosphere and delivering some decent puzzles early on, Black Mirror is a somewhat insipid and uninspired adventure game exacerbated by frequent loading screens and shoddy presentation throughout. It belongs at the bottom of a deep loch.
Richard Walker · Nov 29, 2017 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Black Mirror has the ingredients for a thought-provoking horror game, but is fairly undercooked. The puzzles are interesting, but the rest of the the elements of the game fail to realize the full concept of the game, and the result is a story that falls short of what it wants to be.
