- Battlefield V is going to be a great game, of that we’re sure, but due to a number of glaring omissions at launch and one too many glitches, the final product isn’t there just yet. Series veterans are sure to feel at home with what’s on offer now, though, thanks to a solid multiplayer offering that sticks to the tried and true nature of what makes Battlefield tick.
Liam Croft · Apr 28, 2021 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Bold changes to Battlefield’s traditional gunplay, essential resources, and team dynamics create a strong foundation. On the single-player front, Battlefield V presents three short but distinct vignettes that weirdly focus on small-scale stealth instead of bombastic vehicular warfare. Their successful story moments aren’t really enough to go out of your way for but they’re worth playing once you’re here. Overall, Battlefield V can be lots of fun to play today, even if there’s still a lot of building left to do.
Steven Ryu · Apr 05, 2019 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Battlefield V was a nice return for me. With a few little issues here and there, I was able to look past them and get a nice multiplayer focused game that has seemed to improve a lot since Bad Company 2. Emphasis more on teamwork and class roles has given it an identity and is more than just a spawn, kill, die game. Battlefield fans should pick this one up, and I think casual first person shooter fans looking for a quick fix with some pretty great visuals can’t go wrong here either.
Drew Leachman · Nov 28, 2018 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - The menus are partially blurred in expectation of future content, including its battle royale mode, Firestorm, mysteriously not ready for release; the multiplayer mayhem can only carry the spark for so long, the single-player is an afterthought, and the matches are in danger of getting perilously long. It may look like Battlefield, it may play like Battlefield but, brother, this ain’t Battlefield.
Bradley Russell · Nov 26, 2018 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - As one of the best looking FPS on the market, nothing else can compete with the destruction and visual assault of Battlefield V. However, this great war stands incomplete with many features not yet available at launch.
Kai Powell · Nov 24, 2018 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - After all, DICE still has to release at least one more War Story (hopefully, there will be even more of them), as well as their battle royale mode, so then we’ll be able to share more insights with you. In the meantime, take comfort in the fact that Battlefield V is an outstanding creation and that it more than deserves your undivided attention, especially if you’re interested in the unconventional way it narrates the story of the World War 2.
Brandon Rhuhm Wolfe · Nov 21, 2018 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Battlefield 5 ticks all the boxes for a fun, safe, copy-selling entry in the franchise. It could be one of the least accessible shooters in recent memory, but most AAA FPS titles can say that, Fortnite notwithstanding. BF5's singleplayer mode is well-conceived but ultimately treads ground we've seen before, though it does so with new boots. The multiplayer functions and provides moments of entertainment but lacks any real bite.
John Schutt · Nov 21, 2018 Reviewed on PCRead full review - I trust DICE, I think they’re a great developer, and I have no doubt that six months from now when all of the promised content for Battlefield 5 has finally made its way into the game that this will be one of the best multiplayer shooters on the market. But at this moment, it simply feels like more of what we’ve already seen before with some slight tweaks that only series veterans will truly appreciate.
Logan Moore · Nov 20, 2018 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - While the gunplay and spectacle is as excellent as you would expect from a Battlefield game, the underwhelming maps, lack of content available at launch, disappointing single-player, and poor optimisation make Battlefield V a difficult day one recommendation.
Jimmy Donnellan · Nov 20, 2018 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Battlefield V is flawed at launch, but it’s clearly a game that is only going to get better with time. Future patches may iron out the bugs we encountered, and this time next month, the game will have a lot more content, including the much-discussed Tides of War mode. And by the time the battle royale and promised Combined Arms co-op mode roll around, it’s likely that Battlefield V will be a must-have game for shooter fans.
