- For fans of otome games, Bad Apple Wars may feel like a love-it-or-hate-it experience that will mostly depend on how much you’re able to put up with. If you’re able to find aspects of the characters you like, its romance subplots will probably pay off. Yet, even if you can’t, there’s an interesting enough plot that will make its few hours long of a campaign feel justified.
Kyle Bradford · Oct 13, 2017 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - After the first playthrough, I set down to write the review, before convincing myself that a Good and Bad play through would make for a more thorough review. By the time I had finished my fifth play through, all ten endings, and even unlocked the platinum, I had no excuses left to keep playing. Even then, I still wanted to look back over my favorite scenes. Despite plot holes and some lazy writing, Bad Apple Wars has utterly charmed me.
Georgina Young · Oct 12, 2017 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - The setting and core story for Bad Apple Wars is nigh perfect. It’s a downright shame that some of the storylines feel phoned-in. Even many of the extra characters appear to be complete afterthoughts. So many have names and spoken dialogue, but we never once see who they are. Rinka will have decent conversations with these faceless friends, and they’ll never once appear on-screen outside of their dialogue boxes.
Keri Honea · Oct 12, 2017 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - Bad Apple Wars explores the afterlife in a way that is sure to grab the interest of visual novel fans, especially those who are already fans of Angel Beats!. However, the inconsistencies in character routes and a few dull events involving Rinka’s pathetic attitude holds the game back from being a great otome. There is plenty to love of Bad Apple Wars, but to me it doesn’t stand out when compared to some of the better otome visual novels available.
Azario Lopez · Oct 12, 2017 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - It’s by no means a bad game, but, like its protagonist, Bad Apple Wars often lacks a certain something needed to truly bring it into its own. Still, it’s a short but sweet game that’s worth checking out if you want an otome fix and is enjoyable while you go, even if it may not stick with you that much after.
Max Williams · Nov 06, 2017 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - Bad Apple Wars is yet another interesting otome game from Otomate that manages to stand out from their other releases really well but one that has a terrible font that annoyed me constantly.
Mikhail Madnani · Oct 16, 2017 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - The protagonist does a great job of figuring out her place in this strange world, and doing whatever she can to help her friends out. The supporting cast is sometimes quirky, sometimes a bit dangerous, but they are all interesting. Aside from a few nit-picks, the aesthetics are pleasing to both the eyes and ears. All in all, it's a solid effort.
