- Atlas Fallen is a treasure trove of missed opportunities. It’s a shame, really, because the game does have a lot of potential with its fairly interesting setting and solid foundation. We sadly noticed the cracks early on, as the flow of the combat felt off at times, and the traversal mechanics also didn’t go as smoothly as we had hoped. The overall atmosphere was okay, but we noticed a severe lack of polish.
Ibuki · Sep 23, 2023 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Atlas Fallen isn’t a terrible game by any stretch of the imagination, nor an exceedingly memorable one. Still, I did enjoy the time I spent playing it and think it serves as a decent diversion, if nothing else. I don’t recommend buying at full price, but I could see it being a game one might purchase at a discount later and have fun with. With the shifting of sands and the passage of time, Atlas Fallen can become a pleasant surprise for those who might eventually unearth it.
Audra Bowling · Sep 02, 2023 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Atlas Fallen has much going for it, with satisfying combat, lovely visuals within the desolate environment, plenty of collectibles, and the fun sand-sliding mechanic to traverse between quest locales. But it also suffers from a several issues – not the least being the bland storyline and dialogue. Chatting to quest givers is somewhat tedious, but luckily once you head off into the dunes this is easily forgotten.
William Thompson · Aug 31, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Atlas Fallen had promise, but nothing that this game strives to accomplish ever lands very well or feels fully realized. Between a lackluster story filled with generic and soulless voice acting and a combat system that loses its momentum well before the credits roll, there is rarely a moment where this game feels memorable or worth the time to finish. There is some good stuff on the surface of Deck13’s new IP, with its beautiful vistas and interesting world-building and aesthetic, but digging past the surface of Atlas Fallen shows that it is mostly hollow underneath.
Adrian Morales · Aug 20, 2023 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Atlas Fallen isn't going to win any awards but it might win you over if you take it as an enjoyable, harmless fantasy action game with great combat and stunning lands to explore. When put under a microscope, though, it's only held together by its fun factor and short length that thankfully doesn't overstay its welcome. It's not a deep experience and many might leave unsatisfied by its sluggish pacing, dialogue and story.
Sam Aberdeen · Aug 18, 2023 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - In the end, Atlas Fallen is fun; it doesn’t exactly break new ground, but it has enough to entertain you. Even while it doesn’t do anything really innovative in terms of gameplay mechanics, it’s still much fun to play. The environment is fascinating, and both the battle and exploring are enjoyable.
Azfar Rayan · Aug 15, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Atlas Fallen is fine in parts and frustrating in others. The world seems fascinating, but the characters are the least compelling part of the story. The combat can feel fluid, and the number of powers you can use makes for a good deal of build possibilities. You'll wish there were more weapons, though. Traversal is fun, but you will need to ignore Nyaal, who often calls out things that are nowhere in the proximity. The development team could've used some more time to tighten things up, but ultimately, Atlas Fallen remains a good distraction in between other, more polished action-adventure games.
Cody Medellin · Aug 10, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Atlas Fallen has legitimate strengths in its quick, snappy sand surfing, its fascinating setting and worldbuilding, and deep and flexible progression mechanics, but with clunky movement, inconsistent combat, lackluster storytelling, and just an all-around lack of polish, it ends up being weighed down by far too many issues to be able to live up to its proper potential.
Shubhankar Parijat · Aug 10, 2023 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - While the game had its high points, there’s a lot of unexplored potential on the table. I found it hard to care about the people of the world, frequently becoming bored. I couldn’t buy into the story and immerse myself into the game as I’ve done with other games. Atlas Fallen isn’t a bad game — it’s just not an excellent one, either.
Ashley Erickson · Aug 10, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Atlas Fallen is a solid open-world action RPG with plenty of platforming and large monsters to fight. Putting aside its weak story and the console versions’ gritty graphics there’s a hidden gem of excellent combat, robust exploration, and surprisingly deep customization to uncover in the sinking sands of its arid wilderness. It’s slightly disappointing that co-op is online-only with no cross-play, but thanks to solid technical performance, it sticks in my mind as one of the better worlds I’ve explored with a friend lately.
