- Overall Asterigos: Curse of the Stars is a rather bland and harmless game that doesn’t bring anything new to the table and seems to squander its influences. While it might be entertaining for a while and perhaps a good starting point for those looking to get into Soulslikes (albeit a dumbed-down version), it doesn’t offer anything that other games haven’t done better.
Noparg · Jan 12, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Asterigos has a great world design and a combat system that is similar to the Souls series, while being faster and more action-oriented. It's just the exploration elements that let the game down, as the city of Aphes can sometimes feel a little too empty for its own good, and its residents a little too verbose.
Scott Baird · Nov 14, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Overall, Asterigos: Curse of the Stars is a passable quality experience that excels when it leans into its Monster Hunter/Dauntless-esque multiphase boss fights, interspersed with more solitary bouts of exploration and subsequent discovery.
Dan Lenois · Nov 13, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full review - That is where I part ways with Asterigos – I think others will find things to enjoy and the accommodations for the clumsy combat means that people invested in the story and exploration will have a good time. I just found that this was a game that dressed in Dark Souls clothing while secretly it was closer to Kingdom Hearts.
AJ Small · Nov 04, 2022 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - It is a challenging game, but not ridiculously so. The challenge feels satisfying even in the easiest setting, and there is an organic flow to the difficulty progression here. Navigation can feel a little opaque sometimes, but after the early sections, the game lets you tackle most main objectives in any order you wish.
Jahanzeb Khan · Oct 28, 2022 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Asterigos: Curse of the Stars is a better experience than I expected it to be. Despite its shortcomings, such as excessive dialogue, translation oddities, quest issues, and some awkward area design, for those looking for a comfortable action RPG with a satisfying story & competent combat, Asterigos deserves a chance.
Adam Vitale · Oct 27, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Asterigos: Curse of the Stars is a game composed of two different genres and not fully committing to either. Doing so makes it not reach the potential I think the game could have had by sticking to simply one. Still, with fun combat and an explorative world, it is a solid experience. One that many gamers will be satisfied with but forget after the holiday season.
Noah Rigsby · Oct 24, 2022 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - At its core, Asterigos: Curse of the Stars pretty much accomplishes what it sets out to do, which is to deliver an indie Soulslike experience that does things differently, and for the better in most cases. The world is great to marvel at and explore, the combat system is utterly entertaining with room for experimentation, and all of the systems are seemingly designed to make the players’ lives more convenient but not easier.
Jake Su · Oct 20, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Asterigos: Curse of the Stars is a decent action RPG with a beginner-friendly take on the Souls formula, but noticeable shortcomings stop it from being as great as it could be.
Usaid · Oct 19, 2022 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Asterigos: Curse of the Stars is just plain fun. It's a solid, enjoyable and well put-together action-adventure game where my biggest complaints are largely nitpicks and a few qualms about the exploration.
