  • In any case, once past the hump we hit phase two: excitement. Possibilities felt endless. We redoubled our efforts to level up both our team (a ragtag crew of fellow game journos, called Sign of Zeta) and our mech (a bipedal green gatling-gun affair known as Vile Breakfast) in order to take the post-apocalyptic world of AC5 by storm.

  • If you’re thinking of buying Armored Core V it’s important to realize that the true value of the game comes from playing it as a multiplayer experience. Attempting to play through the game as a single, offline player is an uphill struggle during the more difficult missions, and diminishes much of the value found here.

  • Overall, Armored Core V is game geared for those fans of the franchise looking for a deep modern day MMO-mech experience. Granted, it is a game that is geared towards the more hardcore mech gamer who is looking to hunker down online with a team for months on end. Those new to the franchise may be a little overwhelmed by all the customizable options and the online game, so keep this in mind. This being said, Armored Core V is a good game and one that fans of mech games may want to give a spin.

  • If you've ever played and enjoyed an Armored Core game before, you have to buy V now. No questions asked. It's the best the series has ever seen and the online mode is balanced and deep, providing legs it desperately needs to contain a community. Even if you've never played an AC game before, now is the time to try. We're entering the golden age of mechs trying to blow each other up.

If you can't play online, Armored Core V is rather dry, but if you can, it's a detailed and substantial mech experience made loads better by the addition of other people.

  • Armored Core V is certainly a deep game, but it’s also one that is let down by an underwhelming solo experience and an overly demanding online mode.

  • Even once I worked past the game’s convoluted, tutorial-free systems and understood how to build a mech, I found myself in a constant state of despondency. I just can’t get myself to care about the customization and persistent world when everything surrounding it so poorly designed and not the least bit fun. I mean, at least give me loot. Give me something!

  • Fortunately, though, Armored Core V is a very good action game

As it stands, this is a solid and intricate Armored Core with the best online offering yet, lacking only the visual sheen

  • The ACs are more detailed than Transformer toys and far less repugnant, coming across as no-nonsense archetypes. ....
